dextrose/maltodextrin ?

IS there any reason to combign dextrose and maltodextrin? I see alot of pwo forumlas are 50% of each. Why not just go one or the other? I know Maltodextrin is a complex carb that is high gi, but does it act the same as dextrose at spiking ones insulin levels?
