Extracting test from TESTOGEL

Hi all,

This is sort of a wierd one...sort of like a reverse engineering job...

i've been given a truckload of testogel, but as you know the absorption rate is around only 10%... so i want to rip the test out of it all and make an injectable...

now the ingedients, apart from the testosterone, are:

ethanol
water
isopropyl myristate
carbomer 980
sodium hydroxide

Now... the ethanol, water and carbomer 980 are all water soluble, while isopropyl myristate is not water soluble. From what i can tell testosterone is not soluble in isopropyl myristate... Also the isopropyl myristate is liquid at room temperature...

So what i figured was just add water to the testogel and the ethanol and carbomer will dissolve in the water, the isopropyl myristate will seperate out, and the testosterone will crash out... simply filter off the water and isopropyl myristate and your done...

but when i do add the water i get a mostly cloudy mixture with bits of jelly-like glug still floating around... hmm... i'm not really sure...

so does anyone have any ideas? surely this is doable..? i'm thinking it may work better if i can find a solvent that will dissolve EVERY ingredient EXCEPT the testosterone... surely then it cant fail...?

also what role does the NaOH have in this? do i need to neutralise that...

as you can see i really dont know jackshit so any help would be appreciated...

BIG BIG BIG BUMP Ive been attempting to do the same exact thing! Ive gotten as far as total dissolution but at that point I have trouble extracting the iso and havint wanted to waste anymore of it to keep trying.

solubility of NaOH in water is roughly close to 1g:1g so however much NaOH is in the gel if you use equal parts of water it will remove the NaOH. Well you know test is soluble in oil, check the solubility of isopropyl myristate in oil. Also im quite sure the freezing points are different.

UPDATE: a chemist friend of mine is going to walk me through the process and I will post it up here trying to make it as simple as possible.

i would go about it by simple distillation or even fractional distallation then filtration.

First, how much is a truckload? Is it really worth it?

Ok if so, I'm mulling this over. Lets keep it simple. First, the NaOH is most likely added just to pH balance the gel, so there's not a lot in there and can probably just be neutralized with a weak acid. The water and alcohol can easily both be evaporated off. This leaves Iso Myristate, which I believe is also an acid, and the Carbomer 980 which is a gelling agent.

I believe the logical/best way is strip 'em one at a time. I'm gonna research the last two. There's gotta be an easy way. I'll be back.

I've been asked this, it seems like a hundred times.

I remembered I got some isopropyl myristate online and it sat out in the cold and froze. When it did it separated assumably into its components, isopropyl and myristic acid, so thats a start.

If I had some here to work with, it would be a lot easier. Seriously, I personally have no desire to slather gobs of gel on me, but I'd like to take a stab at extracting the testosterone and then post the results.

Hmm, did you say a truckload?:rant:

What is "dynomite suspension"?
Testosterone Suspension is an injectable hormone in a water base , and was the first aas developed and administered. Suspension can also be suspended in propylene glycol or oil, but good luck with the pain:11: Suspension is known to be very potent though:yup:
