    Angry Well, I feel like jumping off a tall building...


    Well, here I am again, on the disabled list. I did a few sets on the flat bench and my left shoulder really prohibited me from lifting anything heavy. So, I went to the Hammer Strength machines, as I had originally planned, and they hurt too. I'm stuck. I started training in December after a long, long layoff, and made it 4 weeks before I wrecked my right shoulder to the point where I could bearly move it.

    About 5 months later, I gave it another go. I last about 4 weeks again, and there goes my left shoulder. This issue is MUCH less noticable and none of my normal daily activities are affected (in other words, no pain, really) - but I can't lift. So, I suppose I'll be laying-off next week. Maybe two weeks.. Maybe five months. Who knows? But I'm really getting sick of this. I lift light, slow, carefully so not to injure myself, and I still get stuck.

    I was making such amazing progress, too.. I have insane genetics. I grow just by reading messages here. I must have been a real scum bag in a past life. God's certainly not very happy with me...

    That sucks man. Shoulder pains suck. I also started doing the rotator cuff exc whenever I do my chest workout and shoulder workout....it's the first thing I do, they seem to help and keep the socket together better with a tighter, more smooth fitting...I still have pains once in awhile though. My wrist gives me the most pain though...

    I also keep hearing that doing flat BBB presses tend to mess with your shoulders and everything more vs. doing inclines with hammer, BB, DB's...I don';t know if there's any truth to it though....wonder if Bobo knows????? hows about it Bobo, do flat BBB presses kill the shoulders more?

    Zero Tolerance dont make come over there and slap you. Get off your ass, pick yourself up, and brush off the dust. Now is not the time to get down. It is time to stop the insantiy. When you do an exercise that causes pain and inflamation guess what ? You don't do it (DUH). Like I said before there are always more ways than one to skin a cat. If I were you I would not do flat barbell presses ever again unless my goal was to be a powerlifter. Take that for what it's worth.

    Ever heard of Milos Sarcev? He only happeens to be a world class body builder and Mr. O contender. Milos a few years ago stopped training because of great shoulder pain. He thought his career was over. Then one day he was introduced to Active Release Techniques and he siad good bye to surgery and he was back in the gym pain free able to resume his professional bodybuilding career.

    Once again I would highly suggest giving ART a try. I would almost bet my life on ART that within as little as 3 session you would be pain free.

    Life is too short to be living with pain. I'm just recovering from terrible back pain. Now I'm almost pain free thanks to my chiropractor / ART practioner.

    Thanks, Silver Surfer. Yes, those are very good pages. I do those exercises now.. I think they did a lot of fix my right shoulder.

    Phoenix Rising.. Will ART help even if my issue is the lack or the "gel" or whatever the substance is between the bones in my shoulder? I talked to a personal trainer a couple of days ago and he described what my issue "probably" was by stating I had bones rubbing together.. That's sort of what it feels like to me..

    I think you are describing a lack of cartlidge. I doubt that is what you have but hey I'm no medical professional. I wouldnt try to self diagnose myself. Keep positive and use the old noodle when working out. I still say give Acitive Release Technique a try. You will not be sorry.

    Yes, I use Cissus. It's helped out with other things, but not this.. I also use Omega Flex and that's helped other things as well, but not this...

    Holy crap. Out of nowhere my shoulder feels great today. Almost no pain at all.. What the heck is going on?!?!?!? I hope it stays this way. If it does, I'll start weighttraining lightly on Monday. The first time I "gave up" on bodybuilding, I started martial arts and boxing and stayed that route for years. Today, I spent a good few hours looking for a good martial arts or boxing school and found a good one.. 10 minutes ago, after I got out of the shower, and for the first time since 11 days ago - my shoulder feels great.. The only time I feel anything out of the ordinary at all is when I move into a very unnatural position..

    Sounds like osteolysis of the distal clavical (weightlifter's shoulder). When it does hurt, does it hurt to cross over your body - touch your left shoulder with your right hand. If so thats a definate. Some say a rotator cuff tear is the worst thing to endure, but this can be just as or even more painful.

    Rotator cuff exercises would most likely aggreivate it more. What happens is the gap in the AC joint is so tight it causes pain. Puts pressure on everything else.

    I would say avoid any pressing motions (shoulder, bench) and esp. dips! You should really see a specialist about this.

    If that's what you've got, then this is the best advice there is. That's what I had and kept putting off seeing a specialist b/c some days it would feel okay and others like I couldn't even open a door. Then one day doing dips, another stupid mistake, my shoulder gave out and I screwed it up pretty good. Went to see an orthopedic surgeon and had to have the athroscopic surgery done.
