Bobo's Library.... what's in it?

Bobo,

I am looking to get a good basis in nutrition, physiology and endocrinology. Your extensive knowledge is very impressive. Since I read the thread about topolo bashing you because he says all you do is quote Pubmed... well I found it funny because you already know it to be true but just give science to back it up, hence the reason I created this thread.

What are some good books that you think anyone that enjoys the sport and science should read? Anyone else as well, if you think a book should be added post it up!

Books so far:
Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism (with InfoTrac)
Sareen S. Gropper, Jack L. Smith, James L. Groff, ~ Brooks Cole 16 April, 2004 ~ ISBN: 0534559867

The New Glucose Revolution Complete Guide to Glycemic Index Values
Jennie Brand-Miller, Kaye Foster-Powell, Susanna Holt, Johanna Burani, ~ Marlowe & Company 21 August, 2003 ~ ISBN: 1569244782

When I first started reading this forum, I caught Bobo mentioning "Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism" by James Groff (among others), and I decided to pick it up (4th edition). I'm very glad I did as it has taught me (and is continuing to teach) a great deal.

The New Glycemic Revolution is another he's read because I read it and he has mentioned it before. Great read for a good base of the glycemic index.

How much did that book cost? I haven't seen it at any local bookstores?

I got it used at amazon.com for $80 I think. Being a college textbook it's definitely not cheap new, but it's in perfect condition so I didn't mind it being used.

I ordered mine from Amazon yesterday. I've been looking for something like this for a while, thanks for the info.

Check those AddAll.com links I have at the top poolee!
whooops....didn't even see those.... :frustrate

Oh, I checked out amazon.com and they had the 3rd edition for about 1/3 of the 4th editions price! How informative is the 3rd compared to the 4th? If it has essentially the same info. I'd like to save some money, ya know?

I've built up a nice little collection as well. Probably 30-40 books with several hundred journals. Mine are probably more sports oriented than Bobo's however.

From what I can see on the official site, they only change a bit of the way it was organized and added some more information plus infotrac. I am not sure if it warrants the extra cash for it, correct me if I am wrong though. I am going to look at purchasing a used 3rd edition, 4th edition used still too expensive for me.

Any other good books I should be looking at?

Edit: Theres a sample chapter available btw at http://www.wadsworth.com/cgi-wadsworth/course_products_wp.pl?fid=M2b&product_isbn_issn=0534559867&discipline_number=18

I got this book a few weeks back. Great read, just be prepared to be on Wikipedia looking up terms. If you are not versed in Biology or Physiology it may be a tough read. But the great thing it you start understanding more and more as the days go on and you learn about the basics.

Jones-a good thread for conversation would be books people around here read. Since you kicked this one off, you should kick that off if you want in general conversation.

As a disclaimer, however, Muscular Development and Barely Legal aren't books, BTW...

Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism looks like a really good book, but I think it would be a little to advanced for me :) Can you recommend a good book to read before this one, to get a good understanding on the basics of nutrition.
