Is there a difference between between doing lying skull crushers to the forehead vs lying flat but dropping the bar behind the head and "kicking it out" at a 45 degree angle. Wondering more about the physiology of this.

When you are doing it at an angle it keeps constant tension on the triceps.
Further flexion at the shoulder stretches the long head of the triceps which crosses the shoulder joint.
