Workout partner or solo? What do you prefer?

    Haha ya I have egged my workout partner to the point I thought he might hit me. It is always when we do close grip chins. I push him to use more weight and to really go over the bar. Pisses him off so much haha. The thing is he can do more than me haha.

    That 'egging on' actually really helps me. I'll say, "ok, I'm doing this for 5reps." She'll be like, "*****, do 6." So then I shoot for 7, just to rub her face in it.

    Haha ya that is why I do it because I know it helps. Sometimes he does seem to get really pissed though haha. Also we say "dont be a b1tch" sometimes haha. And just "rogaine" haha.

    If your partner is a motivator it seems to really help me kick it to another gear.

  8. I prefer to work out by myself. I have not trained with a partner in over 10 years.

  9. My buddy is on vacation so I worked out by myself today for the first time in a good while. Brought the Ipod along and rocked out. It felt good.

  10. i work out by myself right now. i like it because i can listen to my music and not talk to anyone. it keeps me focused. i would love a training partner if he is the type of person that is serious and wants to give 100 percent every time like i do. the people like that at my gym all have training partners already it seems. its like women lol most of the good ones are taken.

    Ha that's funny you wrote that, lifted with the wife this morning and she only made it thru half my bicep workout lol. She did good tho for being 5 foot 100 lbs she was curling 65 lbs barbell yea buddy!

    thanks man, and yea i had posted a thread before about how its always a battle for me and my lifting and my wife, and my awesome AM family gave me some advice for making it all work, so now me and my wife lift together, and yea its a great experience, came from some great advice, thanks guys, haha workout take twice as long but thats because im teaching her form and trying to have fun together. its also great motivation with your wife there because then you have to do twice as good as if your alone lol.

  18. I love having friends in the area I can call over for a quick suggestion or spot, but 90% of the time a workout partner (that you alternate sets consistently with for the entire session) isn't going to help you (an already experienced lifter).

  19. I always lift alone, a partner is good for a spot but that's about it. When your not actually lifting the only thing having a partner with you is going to do is distract you, get you out of your focus. Wnen you lift alone you know its just you and the weight and you need to get it done by yourself with your own power.
