Tricep push down quickly

As at the gym gym last night and this body builder guy was doing the push down with the rope. Only he was doing it at the bottom of the push down here your would spread the ropes and he was doing it as fast as he could for 20 reps or so. He left before I could ask him why. Is there a certain purpose for this or just another way to create growth ?

Nah, a lot of people seem to do that.

If you're working to train the muscle (to get larger), there are better ways to do it than that. If you're training to develop something like ballistic speed or something, there are better ways to train.

In other words, there's really no point in doing what you saw.
