The reason I ask is that I normally just stay in decent shape always without peaking or really cranking up the volume. However, I'm taking a firefighter's physical in a few weeks and I want to really hit the peak of my endurance. I imagine the same basic idea is involved for boxers, so I'm directing it at you guys since fire fighting isn't exactly a sport.
Running hills hard is a pretty good analog for what is needed in the actual test. I'm pretty sure it's the best method for this purpose.
Right now I do a CrossFit circuit or some weights and run hills hard a few times a week. I'm going to cut the strength training in half and run hard uphill intervals basically every day for 2 weeks before the test. I have about 7 weeks BTW.
Do I have the right idea here?
