Arm locking up hours after bicep workout

Sometimes a few hours after doing some heavy curling, my left arm will lock up suddenly when I bend it. A muscle or tendon stiffens up like a rock and it's very painful trying to extend my arm fully. I have to extend slowly and leave my arm straight so it doesn't lock up again. It usually just lasts the evening of the workout.

I've been training my biceps for years, but just this past year I've been occasionally having this issue.

Thoughts? Similar experiences?

I have had it happen to me on a few occasions. It could be from overtraining or just getting a heck of a bicep workout. If it goes away after that evening, i wouldnt worry to much about it. Get lots of potassium and food.

Also make sure you are replacing your fluids very well. Fluid and electrolyte deficiencies are the most common culprit. I have to absolutely pound fluids for the rest of the evening after a hard training session in the summer months because I sweat so much. Something like gatorade or powerade that has some sodium will help you retain the fluid better as well.

Bingo

Same here ;)

Good tips.

The arm is a little sore, but it's not locking up. It's just annoying when it happens the day of.

I have had this happen with most muscle groups. For me it's overtraining leading to improper hydration. Once I drink down enough water it gets much better. I think it feels funny and I know I got a good work out.
