core workout frequency

My rountine for my core is one day ill do front abs and the next day ill do obilques and then the follwing day go back to my front abs. I know one shouldn't do abs more than two to three times a week so if I'm doing abs x3 and obliquesx3 a week...will I be over training my core or is going back and forth allow one to rest while I work the other?

Training abs is NOT the same as training your CORE, as your core is the area between your hips all the way up to your shoulder girdle. However, I think it is UNnecessary to train abs more than 2-3 times (and for >~100 reps per session) a week, especially if you are performing the core compound lifts.
