    Post Speed Training


    Alright guys i've looked around on here for a while now and i can't seem to find anything on speed training. I used to do 40's and 100 yard dash when i played football in high school, but now it seems to not help at all. Do you all think that running with resistance bands would help me at all or possibly running with ankle weights. i reference to ankle weights, ive heard that they have the potential to stunt growth and since im still growing i prefer to get as tall as i can before this happens. do you all have any other exercises that i could do that would help. Suggestions and corrections are more than welcome. If ankle weights wont cause any problems then i am more than happy to try them.
    BTW i lift on 5X a week basis and need to figure out how often to try speed training.

    I can't post links yet but google dynamic effort method. Also you can get faster just by getting stronger(max effort, or lifting heavy). Please don't run with ankle weights, terrible idea.

    okay well do you know of any videos that could help me with my form b/c i'm figuring that has to be some of the problem. not to sound like whiny girl but i've tried and i cant find any.

    sry dude on my leg press i might need some help, but mostly on my running form is what i was getting at, sry i wasn't specific. basically i think i just run fuked up

    Ive heard the Olympic Snatch is a great exercise for increaseing explosive power. I assume your wanting to increase speed for football. Id look into it.

    Running with ankle weights can potentially cause an ACL, PCL, Meniscus, etc tear.

    thnx guys i think im pretty much convinced ankle weights are bull. also thnx to sid for the snatch reference nvr thought of that lift being helpful in that way but i guess it would ill start tryin it at my gym

    Also consider olympic clean & jerk with the snatch.

    I'll chip in later on this. I went back in the day from a 8.2 to a 6.8 in the 60 in 1 1/2 yrs. It might have been less than that! I love speed, it kills.
