Hope this is the right forum for this question. I have decided to take some time off from the gym. Not sure how much as yet; felt I needed to give my body a rest. My only fear or concern.... losing what I gained. This might be a open ended or stupid question, but I rather ask than guess.
I know rest is relative, but how much is too much time before losing it all? Just looking for a little guideance for effective resting.

i have read several places like jim hill said 1 week off every 12 weeks. in that time you may lose a very small (possibly not even enough to tell) amount but you will gain it back faster than before.

Just to reinforce everything everyone has said....one week is usually sufficient. If your like me you'll be itching to get back in the gym. Oh, don't forget to keep your diet on track. Minimize some things as you won't be burning as much unless you plan on doing some other physical activity.

Just as others have said,.. a week of every 8-12 weeks, come back stronger and bigger!!!
Think training's hard,. try losing!

Thanks for the feed back guys. I am hating it right now, but I know it is needed. Resting is really a mental challenge as well, you think you are shrinking, and you have to keep fighting that urge to either go to the gym, or do some sort of exercise at home. I have been strong in my will power, and not doing ANYTHING at all. I plan to start back on the first... a nice starting day.
