Fasted AM Weight Lifting

  1. Fasted AM Weight Lifting


    I know, probably not a good idea.

    But if it's going to be done, what non-carb pre-WO and intra-WO supps would you recommend to both wake up quickly, workout with intensity, and provide aminos/protein?

    Basically, I'd wake up, down some concoction, and train within 1/2 an hour (provided it can wake me up enough not to fall back to sleep).

    I can't have a whey shake that close to working out, though.

    So, what "stack" would you highly recommend for me?

  2. I work out at 5:30am And I do not eat before I workout.
    Right now I take
    2 scoops Poseidon
    1 Scoop Clout
    3 caps Incarnate
    And Buddy I am awake and ready to go when I get to the Gym.

  3. Xtend sounds like a sound option here if you want to avoid carbs. Add in some beta alanine.

    Or just get an MRP-type product. I drink Muscle Milk + Poseidon before/during my workouts.

  4. Id go with caffeine of some sort, creatine...PWO protein, carbs, u know the usual

    I was thinking Poseidon and its specialized brothers, but I dunno if Blast will give loud enough of a KABOOM for me in the AM.

    Or maybe NO Shutgun with Purple Wraath intra?

    Xtend intra would work, too, though so far I've only used the PW.

    Just way too many possibilities here!

    So, you are looking for a "wake up call"? Straight caffeine should fit the bill.

    I workout ~6am and have ditched caffeine. If you had more time, I would simply recommend a more rigorous warmup over caffeine.

  8. Core ABC - lots of BCAA's, big dose of citrulline and beta alanine (much more than Xtend)

    RPM - a nice prolonged, aggressive push without huge amounts of caffeine

  9. I would say wake up, pop some RPM, and then make an intra cocktail of Xtend (or Purple Wrath), Beta Alanine, mono, and if you could handle it mix in some Waxy Maize with an opened P-Slin.

    Honestly I couldn't imagine lifting on an empty stomach, but I guess it can be done (since Bama has been doing it). Just seems to me that catabolic hormones would be surging (and a lot of the blunting of them will be negated by little food intake). My .02 but if I had to thats what I would run up top.

  10. Can you try doing something like setting your alarm 20 mins early, taking some stims, going back to bed for 20 mins, then getting up, grabbing a banana and some whey and going?

    I have lifted on empty before, and I think how good your workout is depends on how you ate the night before. If you did not have any carbs I would expect to burn out rather quickly.

    I use a combination of Nimbus Swell and Designer Supplements Adrenalean before my AM workout and the combination is fantastic.

    Spot on. This is probably the only time carbs at night could be justified. I have used Basic Cuts (DS) and Sulbutiamine (NP). Works great.

    Coffee/Chocamine combo is good to get you going and poisons recommendations (BCAA, Citrulline, Beta-Alanine) is exactly what i'll be trying when my BA arrives but the Swell looks like something i might try in the near future though.

  12. I do this often before class at 8:30. I'll wake up at 6:30, take 1.5 scoops JP8 (18g carbs), 30g WPI, 30g WMS, SWELL and wash that down with water. Then in the gym I sip on some Xtend, sometimes WMS if I am doing alot and need the carbs. I tolerate this just fine, and it gets me fired up for my workout.

    Are you that sensitive to having stuff in your stomach? Simple sugars/dextrose should be fine for most people.
