shoulder surgery

going in for shoulder surgery in august and just wanted some opinions on what to take to help keep my muscle mass. i will still be doing cardio everyday so not really worried about alot of weight gain and with proper diet the weight should be stagnant. i was thinking alot of aminos, bcaa's and protein. anybody got anything else. after the surgery i will not be able to lift until new years as well.

Yeah I'd def do EAA's like Purple WRAATH, and protein. I hurt my back last year and retained my muscle mass by not changing my diet and doing cardio/stretching while supplementing EAAs

That sucks man! I've had my right shoulder done twice (rotator cuff) and it was a 6 month recovery both times, plus it's painful! Cissus has helped me in past surgeries and recoveries. Not sure there is much you can do to prevent muscle loss, but sticking to the basics, fish oil, BCAAs, protein and a good vitamin will help out.
Good luck to you.

Cissus and BCAAs. I had a full labral tear and had arthroscopic surgery last year, was an easy surgery, but just make sure to take it easy and not jump back into the weights too soon.

i was back in the gym 3 weeks after surgery and started too soon, I still have some issues with my shoulder but deal with it as the Dr. said if I go in again, they will have to open up my shoulder. So, give it ample amount of time to heal up.

Well if it's any consolation, loss during down period is often fairly minimal and easily attained once again when one starts lifting again. I think it's harder psychologically that it is physically. Any number of supps could go a great distance to help you maintain though. Stoked would be a good choice or Drive. I couldn't lift for 3 weeks due to a shoulder injury (still can't lift heavy at all) and durig that period all I took was Recreate and I didn't lose an ounce. I lost fat though.

Keep things simple and stick to a good, quality diet at maintainence level and get some Forslean, green tea extract, Sesathin, and some whey isolates.

BigPapa, print this out and hang it on your refridgerator.
Read it out loud every single time you go to the kitchen.
