Alkylglycerols are found in cow, sheep, and human's breast milk and shark liver oil. Alkylglycerols are the active ingredients that give breast-fed babies protection against infection until their own immune system is fully developed. Human's milk has 10 times more alkylglycerol than cow's milk and there is 1000 times more alkylglycerol in Shark's Liver Oil than in cow's milk.

I wish you the best of luck and health. be strong.

Carotenoids show a prominent role in decreasing the incidence of various cancers.

Vitamin D has an important role to play in cancer prevention. Cancer rates are different at differnt latitudes of the globe. Rates of breast, colon and ovarian cancer are lower in sunnier regions of the world than in Northern climates where cold winters limit people's sun exposure. Sunlight triggers the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin, and people who get little sun exposure tend to have lower stores of the vitamin.

Green Tea has polyphenolic compounds such as EGCG that are protective against various forms of cancer.

Graviola fruit. The graviola tree, also known as soursop, grows in the Amazon jungle and some of the Caribbean islands.

Mangosteen has powerful xanthones.

AHCC -- Active Hexose-correlated Compound -- is a mushroom extract that has been tested as an immune enhancing, liver protective and anti-cancer agent.

Ashwagandha has many compounds that have been found to have activity against lung, colon, breast, and central nervous system tumors.

Cat's Claw -- extracts exert a direct anti-proliferative activity on MCF7 breast cancer cell lines.

Indole 3 Carbinol is available as a supplement.

Milk Thistle contains silymarin and other flavonoids that have been found to have anti-tumor action in bladder and prostate cancer cells.

Noni -- Noni fruit juice contains a polysaccharide-rich substance called noni-ppt with anti-tumor activity.

Reishi mushroom--water soluble extracts from Reishi inhibit colon tumors in mice. Reishi may be helpful in advanced-stage cancers and has shown activity against prostate cancer cells.

Agaricus mushroom

Resveratrol shows promise in neuroblastoma and breast cancer.

Maitake mushroom is often used in Japan

Calcium D Glucarate is a natural supplement

Calcium has been associated with a lower risk of colon cancer, so has vitamin D.

IP-6 -- Inositol hexaphosphate (IP-6), is a naturally polyphosphorylated carbohydrate found in beans, brown rice, corn, sesame seeds, wheat bran, and other high fiber foods. IP-6 has been reported to have in vivo and in vitro anticancer activity against numerous tumors, such as colon, prostate, breast, liver, chronic myeloid leukemia, and rhabdomyosarcomas. Significant human trials are lacking and hence we do not currently know whether taking IP-6 supplements is helpful in cancer prevention or therapy.

Melatonin, a pineal hormone, is a potent antioxidant and has been shown to inhibit estrogen-responsive human breast cancer cells and augment the effectiveness of tamoxifen.

Supplements that may be helpful for those on chemotherapy:
Carnitine improves fatigue in those who are undergoing chemotherapy.
Glutamine supplementation can lessen loss of protein in the muscle and protect immune and gut-barrier function during radio-chemotherapy in patients with advanced cancer.
SAM-e may have a protective effect in cancer chemotherapy-induced liver toxicity, do not use more than 100 mg a day.

Not sure if its applicable to this specific case, but chlorophyllin has shown some great promise in liver and colon cancers (and is recognized as having strong dna protective properties).

Le Magazine, February - Report: Chlorophyllin And Cancer Prevention

And resveratrol has actually been shown in studies to slow the progression of existing cancers, which makes it fairly unique.

Quote:
Resveratrol causes COX-2- and p53-dependent apoptosis in head and neck squamous cell cancer cells.
Lin HY, Sun M, Tang HY, Simone TM, Wu YH, Grandis JR, Cao HJ, Davis PJ, Davis FB.

Signal Transduction Laboratory, Ordway Research Institute, Albany, New York.

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) content is increased in many types of tumor cells. We have investigated the mechanism by which resveratrol, a stilbene that is pro-apoptotic in many tumor cell lines, causes apoptosis in human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma UMSCC-22B cells by a mechanism involving cellular COX-2. UMSCC-22B cells treated with resveratrol for 24 h, with or without selected inhibitors, were examined: (1) for the presence of nuclear activated ERK1/2, p53 and COX-2, (2) for evidence of apoptosis, and (3) by chromatin immunoprecipitation to demonstrate p53 binding to the p21 promoter. Stilbene-induced apoptosis was concentration-dependent, and associated with ERK1/2 activation, serine-15 p53 phosphorylation and nuclear accumulation of these proteins. These effects were blocked by inhibition of either ERK1/2 or p53 activation. Resveratrol also caused p53 binding to the p21 promoter and increased abundance of COX-2 protein in UMSCC-22B cell nuclei. Resveratrol-induced nuclear COX-2 accumulation was dependent upon ERK1/2 activation, but not p53 activation. Activation of p53 and p53-dependent apoptosis were blocked by the COX-2 inhibitor, NS398, and by transfection of cells with COX-2-siRNA. In UMSCC-22B cells, resveratrol-induced apoptosis and induction of nuclear COX-2 accumulation share dependence on the ERK1/2 signal transduction pathway. Resveratrol-inducible nuclear accumulation of COX-2 is essential for p53 activation and p53-dependent apoptosis in these cancer cells. J. Cell. Biochem. (c) 2008 Wiley-Liss, Inc.

and a study basically summarizing some of the research on resveratrol's effect on cancer

New enlightenment of French Paradox: resveratrol's potential for cancer chemoprevention and anti-cancer therapy.
Liu BL, Zhang X, Zhang W, Zhen HN.

Department of Neurosurgery, Xijing Institute of Clinical Neuroscience, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, PR China.

Resveratrol is a phytoalexin produced by many plants, and the skin of red grapes is particularly rich in resveratrol which accounts for the "French Paradox". Besides its protection of the cardiovascular system, it can affect the processes underlying all three stages of carcinogenesis, involving tumor initiation, promotion and progression. It has also been shown to suppress angiogenesis and metastasis. The anti-carcinogenic effects of resveratrol appear to be closely associated with its capacity to interact with multiple molecular targets involved in cancer development, while minimizing toxicity in normal tissues as tested. By reviewing many in vitro and in vivo studies, also considering both the supporting and challenging evidences, we are provided with a theory in support of the use of resveratrol in human cancer chemoprevention, in combination with either chemotherapeutic drugs or cytotoxic factors for the highly efficient treatment of drug refractory tumor cells. Anti-carcinogenic potential for cancer chemoprevention and anticancer therapy, which is one of the pleiotropic effects of resveratrol, is so called a new enlightenment of French Paradox.

Benefits of Alpha Lipoic Acid for Cancer

Is defined as any malignant growth or tumor caused by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division; it may spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system or the blood stream.

Cancer and Alpha Lipoic Acid

Free radical damage can promote the activity of a particular cell protein called NF kappa B. (NF-kB) NF-kB works to promote inflammation and genetic changes that have been linked with the development of cancer. Studies at the University of California at Berkley have found that when cells are bathed in Alpha Lipoic Acid, NF-kB is inhibited thus preventing cell mutations from replicating. Researchers believe that this has significant implications in inhibiting the formation of cancerous tumors.

It's not really a supplement, quite the opposite actually, but I've read an article on starvation sending the human body into a 'survival mode' when undergoing chemotherapy and gives the doctors the ability to give higher amounts without damaging the normal cells (the ones that go into survival mode) while destroying the cancerous cells. I suggest you talk this over with the doctor before actually trying it.

Here is one of the articles that I have read on the subject:
http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Starv...ess_15846.html

I'm horribly sorry for your bad news and I hope she recovers from this.

Vitamin B17...do a search.

Apricit Kernels (Laetrille)...search this to.

I won't go into too much detail on this as it's a sensitive area!!!!!

Cancer thrives in an acidic state so make sure her diet is based around alkaline foods.

My prayers and best wishes for your wife. I live in the biggest retirement community in the world here in The Villages. Cancer is perhaps the most common and most feared concern.

What I have advised my friends for years and have seen many have success is forst to start taking Vitamin D3. Forget the RDAs of 4oo IUs. Forget the mild recommendations of 2000 IUs. Forget the use of 5000 IUs for cancer prevention and consider taking at least 10,000 IUs daily to address the existing cancer. MS patients are now running a test program with 30,00 IUs so that seems to be the tested, tolerable limit so far. My wife who has a severe precancerous condition that kille one of he twin brothers, Van Recklinghausens disease, takes 5000 ED as I do with my prostate concerns. Try NOW Foods, Vitamin D3 at 5000 IUs per, 120 softgels at BB.com for $7.99.

Second, try Super Curcumin C3 Complex with Bioperine, 60 cap;ets $14.05 from Puritan's Pride. Curcuminh is normally recommended at 400 to 500 mg for 2X ED. Those fighting cancer try 1000 mg 2X ED. Taken with VIoperin it works much better.

Selenium is a nother staple as a cnacer fighter. People should really only take 200 mcg ED. That is really enough. Available everywhere and cheap.

I have two personal favorites and they are Omega 3s which I take at a minimum of 2 gms ED. Now I do mean the Omega 3 portion and not just the Fish Oil. In order to reach this number I have to take at least 5 to 6 gms of Fish Oil depending on my supplier. Barlean's makes a great pharmaceutical grade, orange flavored Omega 3 available in liquidf of gel cap form. The best prices I have found for it are from Vitacost.com.

My other staple is Green Tea. I believe in taking at least 3 gms ED as a preventative but in this case you might want to have her take 5+ gms ED. The best around is get the powder here on Nutra Planet and cap it yourself especially if you want to take so much.

Lastly there are two liquids I rely on. The one is 100% pure Pomegranite juice. I use an inexpensive 64 oz bottle from Old Orchard that I get at the nearby Pulix store for $6.99. Pomegranite is a superbv anti-oxident and also works well when people are going through Chemo to improve the success rate. I take it as a preventative and also because with all the pill I take, it works great to ease them down LOL.

Lastly I believe strongly in resveratol. Google it, it is the hottest thing in the market now. Of course the Dutchess and I augment our usage by drinking a bottle of Merlot or Cabernet every night just to be healthy LOL.

I am not a Doc. I am just an educated layman who has followed the natural supp market for decades and believes in it. If I can help further PM me with your emaikl address and I will send any info I can. Good Luck and God Bless.

My wife is ok. I didn't update here, thought I'd let it die, but since it;'s back:

Her doc blew it, ****ing **** told her definitively 'you have cancer' after an mri. We had weeks of fear and doubt, seeing specialists, and after an unsuccessful biopsy and two successful operations, we know the lump was a non-cancerous schwanomma. She had cancer before, so it's still 12 years cancer free.

Whew! Thanks for the support here!

I won't go into too much detail on this as it's a sensitive area!!!!!

Cancer thrives in an acidic state so make sure her diet is based around alkaline foods.

Coral Calcium helps balance the Ph levels in your body.
IMO this and laughter and a stress-free environment are the best bet!!! All the best, good post.

I think this comes down to down regulation of the IGF-1 receptor caused by lower calories. Seems that going into starvation mode for the short term increases antioxidants and increases your body's resistance to chemotherapy damage but it does not increase the resistance of cancer cells.

Inside Insulin Signaling, Communication Is Key to Long Life -- Antebi 2004 (23): pe25 -- <i>Science</i>'s SAGE KE

There's some interesting work being done in this field including figuring out how aging works. It doesn't seem to work in humans so far but in mice, worms and fruit flies to name a few, mutations in the gene coding for the IGF-1 receptor have allowed aging to be slowed down by as much as 5 times.

Also I was just listening to this podcast this morning, haven't listened to it all but it's all about the genes thought to cause aging and what work is being done to try and influence human aging

No, I cooter kicked that c unt. I really have a problem with her. The specialist we saw said, after reviewing everything 'I have to tell you, she's known for over-reading the info and jumping the gun with cancer'.

That pissed me off more, she really ****ed with our lives for a minute.
