Check out Java Lather soap from Nutraplanet (4.50 for a bar.) Some reporters have said it has helped clear up some of their acne problems. Also try some Vitamin E or some otc face cleaners (nutrigena, ect.)

No study has ever pointed to diet altering the course of true acne vulgaris, not chocolate, not pizza, not anything.

Start with a good non-residue soap for your face, would NOT recommend java soap for the face. Super fatted soaps like dove are great for the body.

As for non-residue face wash - go with cetaphil cleanaser. That's a great way to start. Looks like you may have to skip that and you may need to consider a benzoyl peroxide product. You can use a 10% though it may be drying, you cna use it 1 x day if that is the case. Avoid picking and scrubbing.

To open the pores, you'll need to see your pcp or a dermatologist to prescribe a retin-a type product. It opens up the pores and nromalizes the keratinization of your skin. You just apply a thin amount of it every night.

For each of these products, it take a good 2-3 months to notice a difference since the skin on your face is at various stages of growth and comedone/pimple formation.

cheers!

milk can cause me to breakout. I have found that 100% pure cranberry juice helps alot. I don't know why but it seems to help.

strangely enough, proactiv actually does work. i know a lot of people say that it's hype, but i'd sampled it and it does work for the face. i don't have acne, but get the occasional breakouts.

however, it does not work for larger pimples, like the mountains i get on my upper back from time to time. them shits are terrible!

oh yeah, and clean up your diet if you haven't. also, avoid overwashing/picking at your face. don't rub your face either. these things irritate/"spread" the acne.

it is, however, crucial to wash your face each night before bed! wash it good! and get a solid 8 hours of sleep; that will help as well.

actually, i don't want to hijack the thread, but i had a bit of a specialized question in relation to the main one from the starter: how can one eradicate backne? i don't get widespread pimples on my back. i just get, on occasion, like two BIG, RED, BOULDERIZED bumps.

i thought of using a back scrubber and mayhaps mixing the soap i put on it with a salicylic acid lather. how's that sound for a possible go?

Proactiv works because of compliance - a patient will pay $5 for a benzoyl peroxide preparation or sal acid preparation - they are less likely to use it than if they paid $100 for something.

Correlations of diet exacerbation of acne is not grounded only with empirical evidence - but one must eat healthy - though normal variants exist where certain dietary components may in theory increase sebum production. Bottom line, eat healthy. Any hormonal; shifts may increase sebum production.

There are benzoyl peroxide preparations that come with an applicator for the back.

Some bodybuilders/lifters/athletes are all into the underarmor restrictive and supposed more breathable attire - there are several acne exacerbations that correlate with this attire. Plain cotton is still the best and most breathable for day to day workouts and the least comodegenic.

Try antibacterial dish soap. It works great for the back.

comedones take 28 days to form. So if you eat something today, it would only appear 28 days down the road, hence why the correlation is false, but more incidental rather and the fact that excess sebum production and free fatty acid synthesis by p. acnes as the main contributor to comedone formation.

The only instance that could cause an acute breakout is an infection versus an allergic or irritant contact dermatitis.

cheers.

Has too much residue and can be very harsh and drying ont eh skin. It has components that dissolve and separate fats, think of all the good lipid that is being removed from the skin.
