This is a great question. I am cutting now, but wouldn't mind still taking Creatine. However, if your losing weight to see your abs, and (some) creatine bloats you up, I wonder if it would still work.
well since creatine makes you retain water, i would say you would have to be burning a hell of alot more fat than the amount of water you retain to actually 'lose weight'. if your trying to lose weight try something that has a weight loss purpose. creatine is used more as a stack when lifting and trying to get bigger.
You can easily take creatine while you try to lose weight...it should not affect anything. Other than maybe the bloat you mention, but nothing with creatine should cause problems with trying to lose weight, if anything it will help keep strength and intensity up.
Creatine is fine to take while cutting weight. It wont effect the bodies ability to metabolize fat and will help with energy, endurance, and even with nutrient uptake into muscles (if low carbing.)
Just be sure that theres no extra unneeded ingredients/calories.
Most of the stuff I have seen on creatine increasing fat loss directly was because of its ability to raise resting heart rate (usually when its a creatine complex with stims.)
edit** misunderstood what you were saying. Creatine is not know to inhibit fat loss in anyway. However it won't directly lead to fat loss. And even if in some small way it did somehow effect it the positives outweigh the negatives of taking creatine while cutting.
