Gyno - I've searched, read, seen docs. Please help!

Hi all,

I’ve done searches on this board and others about gyno, drug treatment, surgeries, etc. About a year and a half ago I got asymmetrical gynecomastia. I saw my PCP who referred me to a good endocrinologist. Ran all the bloodwork, had a mammo and an ultrasound, and everything came back normal. The endo had no experience in giving males drugs normally used for breast cancer patients, even with the research I presented, so I went back to my PCP and essentially guilted her in to giving me 10mg of tamoxifen for three months. The gyno completely disappeared….for eight months. I live in DC now, and when it came back I went to see an endo at Georgetown. Again I had full bloodwork done – twelve tubes drawn, checking for literally everything – as well as another mammo and ultrasound. Again the results came back normal. She also had no experience with drug treatment for gyno, and couldn’t do anything but recommend surgery. The GU hospital system is generally poor in quality, so I went to see a second endo at GWU hospital. At GWU, I was seen by two doctors, both of whom were incredibly helpful, but admitted that they also had no experience with treating gyno chemically. They’ve referred me to a breast specialist who wants a biopsy to confirm it’s not cancer. Regardless of the outcome, my insurer denied an appeal to cover the surgery, and I don’t want surgery, anyhow.

I do not have breast cancer, I have gyno. I ‘m 23, I’ve never used PHs of any kind and I never had pubertal gyno, so I don’t know where it came from. I’ve got plenty of money to purchase stuff online if I was so inclined, but I’m not comfortable playing mad scientist with my endocrine system. Does anybody know of a doctor in DC who will help me out, or of a physician elsewhere that takes insurance and practices medicine online? I have excellent insurance, and if I can only get someone willing to try drug therapy, I’d be ecstatic.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

How bad do you have it? I mean are you just puffy or do you need a bra? The reason I am asking is If the Tamox worked maybe you could try that again. have you used any type of test booster. I saw you said you haven't done any ph's. What are you currently taking? Supp's, Type of Protein, What is your height and weight.

I almost did a cycle of Superdrol, but decided against it at the last minute. It's been sitting in my drawer ever since.

I'm 6'2, 185, and fairly lean, although not as lean as I used to be. When I originally got gyno, I was backpacking through Asia and was down to 160 - as skinny as I've ever been.

The only supps I take are whey protein powder pre-WO with oats, and evopro post-WO. Beyond that, just clean eating.

I would try Raloxifene, as it appears to be more effective with fewer sides than Tamoxifen, but the problem is no doc I've seen will even consider them.

EDIT: Forgot this part. I don't need a bra, but it's painful and puffy, moreso than it was the first time around. It actually looks worse WITH a shirt on - I can't wear tshirts anymore unless they're black. And today at work, casual Friday, I'm wearing a thin sweater, and you can see a little puffiness through the undershirt and the sweater.

there is a product called E-Form by DermaBolics that is an anti-Estrogen spray. I have heard people have used this to treat slight Gyno during cycles and in PCT. have you tried any other anti-e products, 6OXO, Novadex XT, 11OXO.

I haven't tried any OTC products, because from everything I've read, they are ineffective compared to the prescription chemicals.

Well, I doubt they would cure it but they may keep it from getting worse. The thing is you are getting it without doing anything that normally gives it to you. You might want to talk to a plastic surgeon. I have a friend who is a pro body builder and he had the glands removed. Ain't cheap, but he doesn't worry anymore.

I thought, plastic surgery was the only way to remove the gland for sure. Ive always heard that gyno can come and go but the only way to rid of it for sure is surgery.

Its not that the doctor won't take your insurance, its the insurance company considers this surgury "cosmetic". No matter what doc you go to surgury won't be covered. Damn insurance companies. However, drug therapy may be covered with prior authorization and a bunch of other red tape. But if you think the healthcare industry sucks now, just wait until Hillary gets the oval office and really screws it up. You won't even be able to see a doctor for things like this.

As stupid as this might sound, a buddy of mine had gyno, and got rid of it with ATD. Tamoxifen didn't even do the job, so you might want to consider an AI. It's cheap, and you won't lose too much if it doesn't work for you.

LilPsychotic: Exactly, drug therapy is covered, and I get prescriptions filled for $10. The problem is figuring out how to convince my endo (or any doctor) that they should put me on raloxifene/letro/whatever. My bloodwork is normal, and without elevated hormone levels, the doc isn't willing to give me drugs that have no long-term studies done on them in men.

Any advice on how to twist their arm?

Totally! I just had a larger than normal lump under my right nipple about 8 weeks ago. I bought a bottle of Inhibit-E and some Tamoxifen. I dosed the Inhibit-E at 4caps ED for 2 weeks, 3caps ED for 1 week, 2caps ED until I had 7 caps left and then 1cap ED until it was gone. (Doses were split between morning and night, single caps were taken at night). The Tamoxifen I dosed at 80mg for a week, 60mg for 2 weeks, 40mg for a week and 20mg until my two bottles were gone. The lump has pretty much dissapeared. Tamox/ATD all the way!
