When a certain herbal extract is standardized around one active, the bottle may read like
Resveratrol 50% 500mg
or
Icariin (50%) 200mg
does that mean in those examples, the resveratrol content is 250mg and icariin is 100mg ? The rest of the weight being other parts of the source of the active (say maybe grape skins or HGW in those examples).
if that is correct, I get more confused when looking at something like eGCG
from NOW
Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis) (Leaf) 400mg **
Standardized Extract) (Contains 4 mg of Caffeine)
min. 98% Total Polyphenols, 80% Total Catechins, and 50% EGCg
What do those percentages mean, clearly it doesn't have 228% of actives in it...
