Question Do Americans have to pay taxes on supps?

Say you get to check-out with $300 in the basket at whatever online shop, do you get charged more than that.. ie state taxes or sales taxes? I'm just trying to figure out how much of a rip off the British retailers are and how much better you have it.

Oh, I order from NP, before you suggest it.

So, are there any costs in addition to the total of the basket costs?

I think you only pay tax at checkout if you live in same state as company. Some companies have multiple locations i.e. GNC, VitaminShoppe so you get nailed for taxes.

I do not get charged tax at NP as they are in Georgia and I am in NJ.

Jonny is right. The retailers don't charge us tax if they aren't in the same state, but we are supposed to pay that tax to our state as a use tax when we file our taxes.
