Liver supplements (not protectant)
Does anyone else out there use liver power/liver supplements (dessicated liver) ? I dump the powder in my shakes and it is a good supplement IMO. I know its more of an old school thing, but it still has its benefits. I'm not a fan of the tabs though (aka horse pills).

Dude That's OLD school. I don't know where to even start looking for that stuff. All I know about are the pills And they are Large. That has to put a funky taste in your shake.

Yeah dessicated liver is definitely old school. With 21 views and only 2 responses I take it no one uses it but me......and I'm 22yrs old. hm.

I use them off and on. I take large amounts, approx. 12 pills at a time. Unilivers are 3.2g protein per 2 pills. So thats about 20g of protein. Rich with heme iron, vitamin B and aminos. I dont take them right now, I get sick of swallowing so many, so I tend to buy them on and off. Arnold swore by them --- but thats before protein powders were so readily available. IMO they are a little outdated, since there are so many advanced powders out now (slow, fast digesting, etc)
Never used the powder but that must be straight up NASTY.

the powder sucks, but the fact that I can get heme iron, amino acids, and vitamins from it appeals to me. The supplement is piss cheap and I couldn't see a reason NOT to use it, but that's just me.
I use NOW liver powder. - 08-23-2007, 05:29 PM
wow i remember the days of Uni-Liver tabs and taking 18+ a day, tabs are huge btw. good source of vitamin B's, minerals but not very high on protein. like 2-3g per serving. in the long run, it would prob. be cheaper to run 1 bottle of these than taking 18+ liver tabs.
for liver: try NAC, milk thistle, SAMe
protein: food, protein powders etc
vitamins and minerals: NOW Adam, CL Orange Triad (best) and add in anything else you are wanting get a higher intake of like vitamin-b etc. NOW sells many of these types of products, all at NP.
now a days, with all the new products out, this is a supplement of the past. not a bad one and it still can be taken, but not as beneficial as it used to be. good luck
