Creatine Gluconate Dosing

I am currently taking creatine gluconate and I was wondering when the best time to take it is. As of now I take it post work out and I have also taken it during a work out. I am 6' 1'' 180lbs right now and I am using 2g/day. My question is when is the best time to take it and should I alter the dosage amount?

I take mine with my preworkout stack...around 3-4 grams.

Technically, Creatine is stored in muscle, and so really doesn't need to be taken preworkout.
