How much protein is too much at once?

I know some of the members on the board live busy lifestyles and it's hard to get our protein intake for the day. Often at work i'm drinking a whey/casien mix that has about 40-60grams of protein (not including milk). Is this a bad idea to have this much protein at once? I know that the protein digestion is slowed by milk, but even still is it too much at once?

Take a multi-enzyme product.. I use Source Naturals Essential Enzymes when I have abit too much protein in one serving.. ;)

I just buy a 6 pound tub fill the rest of the way full with milk and drink the whole tub over a 6 hour period. My kidneys have been hurting and I fart alot and my poop looks like dust.

There is no standard measure valid for everyone. No study made, only speculation. I've heard many kind of numbers (from 30g to any number above) but i believe that depends on the subject BMR, assimilation cabability and probably many more factors.

I too take enzymes, but I just do when i had a heavy meal, that is I get a feeling that i'm not digesting as quick as i should or when i eat something that i know its slow digesting, like baked salmon. I take Udo's enzymes blend btw.

Ah, to improve protein absorbtion, Betaine is very useful too, not for digestion in general, just protein.

I've been suggested that for post-workout supplementation.

Betaine (trimethylglycine) is good, but add some bromelain and papaya if you got a weak tummy.. ;)

I would just try to spread out the protein intake throughout the day as much as possbile if you don't want to do a lot but I do fine with 55 grams at a time, which is one can of chicken.

I agree w/ you Iron Warrior. I use those cans of chicken for just about every lunch w/ some taco seasoning, shredded cheese & tortillas. Puts me just over 60g for lunches..
