I recall a thread here (or perhaps it was another forum) that I canot locate now that listed the protein powders per company that were revealed to have false (very underdosed) protein quanties alongside added carbs/sugars

I use Dymatize Elite Whey and want to see where it landed in this study so if anyone can share it, I'd appreciate it

Thanks

SUPPLEMENT COMPANY REPS - PLEASE DON'T PIMP YOUR PRODUCT HERE - Thanks

I'm not sure there was a official testing page with all brands together

There was a comparison chart of %protein by weight

For any particular brand it is easy to search it

There are unlisted ones that test even higher ;)
I'm sure but I also wonder as to the objectivity of the analysis. lol

That's the sad state of affairs we are forced to deal with in this unregulated supp arena ;)

IIRC, MusclePharm protein content was awful. Way less than advertised.

I've been a big fan on ON one for the amount of servings and protein per serving per scoop and two cause of the taste. I really like the taste of syntha-6 as well.

And don't believe everything you read either....there was an article going around that was written and has since been taken down due to the inaccuracies.

Agreed. As stated above - our non-regulated industry has run amuck. With too many liberties and no one guarding the hen house comes abuse and the opportunistic vultures ruin it for all of us.

I hope the supp industry does not get regulated BUT I totally get why this is an appealing thought.

Hmm.. curious why the second line in that table is "hidden".. It´s the protein i use and one of the best ones indeed. Very popular in Europe.

I can´t post images but heres the link to it:

The thing that really bothers me these days is the dodgy proprietary blend proteins. In the UK we have several companies using this tactic to pass off cheap Soy protein as whey protein products! One example is Matrix Whey Protein by Supplement Centre.

They have "proprietary" blends in all of their "whey" protein products, which all contain Soy Isolate. Now I emailed them today asking them to clarify the amounts of each protein in the blend, no surprise they did not. They responded with "Sorry I'm not able to discuss this as its a proprietary blend"!! Well you can be pretty sure that means "its 99% soy and 1% whey so we can call it whey protein"

I'm calling for greater transparency with ingredients so we know what were paying for. I'm sick of getting scammed! Which is why I only ever buy from Bulk Powders now. But people are still getting conned by these rip off blends. It needs to stop.

Who's with me??

pretty disappointing information, especially with how low Gaspari scored. I heard in various other articles that Inner Armor was one of the worst offenders of the amino spiking. I'll look for the article.

lmao, yeah, i don't think i'll be buying protein powder at all anymore. just too risky after seeing this crap with companies everyone thought of as stand up and legit.

really disappointing but also kind of hilarious since we've all been duped by them. the funniest part about it is that excessive protein isn't even needed and most people can easily make or keep gains with 100-150 grams of day which is easy as fuk to eat.

Bulk powders products are simply awesome

Guys, i think MyProtein isn´t a very popular brand in the USA. Am i right?

It´s an UK company founded in 2004 and lately is having a great success in Europe. It started by selling 25kg protein sacks. It has awesome prices, a great product line and quality is really good.

FDA Issues Warning On Weight Loss Supplements Containing Dangerous 'Super Caffeine’

https://www.yahoo.com/health/fda-iss...264347737.html

Pay close attention if you’re one of the millions of Americans taking supplements to manage your weight. (Photo: Getty Images)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning to manufacturers of eight dietary supplements containing the amphetamine-like substance BMPEA (labeled as Acacia rigidula), saying that it can pose serious health risks to those who take it.

The companies who received the letter were:

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Products: Fastin-XR - extended release), Fastin-RR (rapid release), Lipodrene (Ephedra Free)
Tribravus Enterprises, LLC d/b/a iForce Nutrition (Products: Conquer (Fruit Punch Slam & Raspberry Lemonade flavors)
Train Naked Labs LLC (Products: Critical FX, Sudden Impact)
Better Body Sports, LLC (Product: Phoenix Extreme)
Human Evolution Supplements, Inc. (Product: Core Burner)
The warning comes just weeks after Pieter Cohen, MD, an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, published a study criticizing the FDA for not warning the public about BMPEA, after the agency discovered the chemical during a 2013 study that found the ingredient in 21 supplements, but didn’t issue a warning about it. Cohen said that was irresponsible.

“Physicians should remain vigilant for patients presenting with toxicity from sports and weight-loss supplements as they might contain undisclosed stimulants, such as BMPEA,“ Cohen and researchers wrote in the study, which was published in the journal Drug Testing and Analysis.

The reason for concern? "At the very least you can think of BMPEA as super caffeine,” Allison Dehring-Anderson, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy tells Yahoo Health, “but that’s really underestimating the danger it poses.”

Amphetamines like BMPEA can increase your heart rate and blood pressure, putting you at risk for significant heart damage, especially if you already have heart problems, says Dehring-Anderson. “It can change the way your heart monitors its own beating by overriding the safety mechanisms our bodies have in place to manage it,” she says.

In addition, amphetamine-like substances cause disruptions in sleep and jitters, along with keeping you from focusing on important tasks.

“It can turn you into a person that gets into dangerous positions,” adds Dehring-Anderson. “Your ability to be a positive and civil person will be blunted with amphetamine-like substances. Basically, you’ll be a nasty person waiting to have a heart attack.”

This ingredient is especially dangerous if you’re pregnant or trying to become pregnant, even to the point of causing a miscarriage or significant organ and brain damage in the unborn fetus. “When mom has an uncontrolled heart rate and blood pressure the baby actually gets less blood, not more,” Dehring-Anderson tells Yahoo Health. “The baby is relying 100 percent on mom making good decisions.”

The good news: Major specialty retailers like Vitacost and Vitamin Shoppe have pulled supplements containing Acacia rigidula from their shelves. That’s a step in the right direction, but Dehring-Anderson believes retailers that mislead the public by selling dubious supplements put the whole medical field at risk.

“When [retailers] intentionally mislead the public by adding a dangerous stimulant and hiding it under the name of some obscure plant, it makes people wonder who else is lying to them about their health,” she says.

BMPEA is also known as:

βMePEA
R-beta-methylphenethylamine
R-beta-methylphenethylamine HCl
Beta-methylphenethylamine
β-methylphenylethylamine
1-amino-2-phenylpropane
2-phenylpropan-1-amine
2-phenylpropylamine
alpha-benzylethylamine
1-phenyl-1-methyl-2-aminoethane
beta-methylbenzeneethanamine
beta-phenylpropylamine

Good info, but that interviewee was as bad as the people pimping the compound. What did she want it listed on the label as "Super Caffeine" ? Not an expert on amphetamines, but the correlation there was a little fishy too.
