Title says it all, besides not eating like garbage and training properly, what can someone take to improve heart health?

And, what dosages would be effective and can be dosed on a daily basis for years on end without adverse side effects?

At what dose?

Isn't that similar to CoQ10 as well?

I was taking 200mg once a day with a fat containing meal. It's what CoQ10 has to convert to in the body. As you age your body has more trouble converting the CoQ10 into Ubiquinol. That's my limited understanding anyway.

Ubiquinol, policosanol, EFAs

BP control (chronic, not acute) is just as important as well.

BP control is also part of what I'm asking about, anything besides controlling sodium intake and drinking enough fluids? (Hawthorne berry does this I believe, but can that be used non stop?)

Nitrates maybe? Can that be dosed daily, year round?

Sodium actually has been shown to have zero effect on BP. It sounded good in theory, but didn't pan out. As far as nitrates go, I'm not sure. They'll help with BP, but NO is a pro-oxidant.

So what would you do to control BP?

I remember a thread or two in the advanced discussion regarding multiple health effects from ubiquinol. Not sure if BP was mentioned or not.

Low dose cialis daily works very well. So does potassium nitrate (consumed daily concurrently with 500mg ascorbic acid).

So does cardio!

LISS, garlic extract, celery seed extract, hawthorn.
Agreed.

And how come nobody has mentioned cayenne? Right up there with garlic and hawthorn!!!

Add...turmeric, lecithin, and a quality EPA/DHA blend (like Barlean's)....

When you add up all the costs why not just get a heart transplant and bill your insurance. The deductible and co-pays will be cheaper in the long run. :)

This phenomenon is so common on the boards - $20 vial of testosterone and $300 of ancillaries.

Yeah, I'm not trying to do all that.

I just want something (a couple different single ingredients maybe) I can take year round for health benefits, and not go broke lol.

IMO and IMPE Cialis @5-10mg/d and 1.6g potassium nitrate had me at 117/63 while on some notoriously BP debilitating compounds. I was very happy to discover this. Of course EFA, FO, MCT etc are all healthy staples.

Yeah, but isn't cialis a Rx drug?

I'm not sure I could convince a doctor that I have ED at 21 lol.

There are other methods of acquiring it. It's as ubiquitous on RC sites as anything else.

Is that something thats safe to take for extended periods of time?

My BP is, and has always been, pretty high. (135/90 is the norm) So I'm definitely interested in ways to keep it lower besides what I already do.

Well, Cialis is approved for daily use by the FDA (whatever that's worth).

Cialis is a doctor prescribed medicine that has been prescribed for daily use for years. There are billions of dollars invested in research. It also gives a good pump in the gym.

Potassium Nitrate - the issue to be concerned about is the conversion to the potential carcinogenic nitrosamine. This is why the concurrent consumption of the antioxidants ascorbic acid and NAC.

most people fail to realize that viagra was initially used to lower blood pressure and treat angina....and cialis is just a better version of viagra. Of course the "side effect" of raging hard-ons was way more marketable and profitable....so now they are ED meds :D

IForce Heart Help is the way to go!! :D I kid I kid.

I like Coops list but I would include Nitrates in there somewhere. And after having discussed Niacin with Benson on another board, I wouldn't touch the stuff lol.

Use discretion between mega-dosing niacin vs daily use ;). Most real nasty sides (liver/flush) are a product of clinical megadosing protocols, as niacin is the most effective overall cholesterol aid we have.

True, but I lend more toward the notion that total cholesterol being high isn't bad if your total triglycerides are low (inverse relationship between high trigs and LDL particle size).

Plus I hear a common side effect is feeling like crap; is this common at daily use or more-so in mega-dosing?

Celery seed extract, Hawthorne extract both work very well for me. Cardio too, bro. It's often underrated or forgotten in our pill popping world

Megadosing. They are referencing the intolerability of the flush.

As for the inverse relationship, it can be fickle

Interesting. Always appreciate the knowledge impartment.

Fickle yes, but I like the data on higher fat intakes improving lipid profiles :D

When I ran dymethazine which is dimethylated I took 1g of Hawthorne berry extract and 500mg of celery seed extract along with omegavia fishoil, which is like one of the most concentrated fishoil pills in the market, and I kept my bp at bay. Wasn't very pricey either, I wanna say like $75 for all of them.

6-10 legit hawthorn extract pills (depending on what PH/DS it is) get me right about where 2 5mg lisinopril do. no BS either. When I take the hawthorn with 1 5mg lisinopril, I get really low...as in what your doctor would like. What I have been doing is just using an extra lisinopril on any PH/DS cycle since the rx is free on my insurance and I use one a day anyways just to keep me in "normal" range as opposed to high normal, and the hawthorn is not necessarily pricey, but it "costs money" so.....:D

Readily available at most research sights one if which kept accudently sending me it instead of letro got bottles of liquid c lying around no need to use it though since I'm blasting 700mg of prop a week. As for blood pressure supps, fish oil coq10, Hawthorne, agmatine, nitrates the list goes on

If he mega dosed niacin for real, he would get the nastiest case of flushing that would be EXTREMELY uncomfortable and he would never do it again. Let him try it if he hasn't already and it will take care of itself w/o intervention. I did this by accident when I mixed up my B-vitamins that were all in blue labels thinking it was b-12 and I took too many.......

Yikes.. why not just hop on pharma grade meds. I love my combination of Coreg/Enalapril, so much cheaper! I could not tolerate cialis daily, the stuffy nose just has me addicted to afrin.

OP, Hawthorn Extract built up over time can function similar to an ace inhibitor they say, as well as celery seed extract functioning like a calcium channel blocker and mild diuretic.

For someone eating a healthy diet and working out hard, lipids shouldn't be to hard to control. Valarian root and l-theanine can help stress related htn.

I can confirm the "intolerability of the flush," as Coop put it. My doctor prescribed Niaspan, I believe, in an attempt to raise my HDL levels. The flush was wicked and extremely uncomfortable. I suffered through it two nights in a row, then gave up. Decided to forgo the pills and up the cardio.
