If you have questions on trt, just post in the "male anti-aging" forum on this board. You may not get a response necessarily (its slow in there, the people are old), but that is the area where all the "experts" are :D Ok that is where the guys who are on trt reside, and they may or may not be experts.

Why not just ask in this thread so that way if anyone else has the same questions, they can just read this thread?

well I have a few questions but one of them is, can you take a natural testosterone booster while getting trt shots?

Your natural test will be shut down after a short period of exogenous test administration (from injections, topical, whatever source).....so test boosters won't help while on testosterone therapy. Topical DHEA with anti-estrogens on your shoulders could boost you higher by converting to test, hard to say what conversion ratio you will get on trt though. I supplement in dermacrine and/or transaderm to get the DHEA and other good stuff it includes (like trans-rez, pregnenolone, anti-estrogens). I have yet to test my levels while on the DHEA (and trt concurrently) though.....I always cease using it before my testing, so I don't skew the results and get a 1000 or something :D

You can, but why do you want to? And how many mgs of test are you getting a week for trt?
I haven't started yet, I am seeing if I am sterile first than making a decision from there

Test boosters can still raise your test even if you're on trt, but whether its significant enough to result in anything significant is dubious because you're on TRT to improve your quality of life, and most of what test boosters do would be effects you'd notice from being on TRT anyways (increased feelings of well being, improved libido, etc). Are you seeing an endo/ fertility specialist to see if you're sterile then? Don't waste your time with DHEA.

I can confidently answer that natty test boosters will NOT increase your natural test any significant degree while on trt....I would venture to say "not at all"...and you have done testing on yourself to deem DHEA useless? if so I'd love to find out since I myself have not tested my test levels with and without DHEA supplementation. Also, if your DHEA levels are tested to be low (even on trt), then DHEA supplementation is still useless? hmmmm....I use DHT, testosterone, and DHEA as my "HRT", you will find that most of the knowledgeable trt folks recommend DHEA supplementation....but they feel oral tabs suck, and transdermal is not that much better. The vehicle used to administer is usually the part that is questioned. Most of the transdermals at least try to address these issues of absorption and conversion to estrogen....better than tabs that is for sure.

Okay cool, good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I am not advocating he use test boosters, I actually said the opposite (that TRT is supposed to solve the issues people resort to test boosters for so there is no point in using them). You saying not at all is objectionable however, please post why you are so confident. Before I answer the DHEA portion of your post, tell me why you are using DHT and DHEA if you're on TRT. That way I can adequately answer your post.

Well I want the effects of both testosterone AND DHT...so DHT gel with androgel accomplishes that. Also you can apply the androgel to the "groin area" and it will convert to DHT as well (if you want more DHT or you don't have access to DHT gel). The DHEA? in hopes of adding that little boost to my overall testosterone #. Every little bit helps, and conventional test boosters are not going to have any discernible effect on overall test #'s....DHEA might add to that provided its converting to test and not estrogen or whatever. applying topically, and on the shoulders, with anti-estrogens included (along with the erase cap per day as my AI that I take anyways on my lower dose trt protocol)....well one would hope it "works". I do not know for sure though, as I previously stated. So anybody that "knows", I would be thrilled to hear their experiences with bloods on and off DHEA supplementation. In a nutshell I want to optimize test levels (with topical DHEA and androgel ~12.5g per day), get my DHT (with andractim and/or application of androgel down below), and take something mild for an AI (erase OG 1x per day). That is my "HRT" protocol. Not for everybody I am sure, but hey its how I do it.

Increased DHT typically leads to MPB, prostate issues, etc. I'm not sure why you want to increase it by supplementing DHT (which is why I asked why you want to first). Androgel is ok, but injections are the best option. Is there a reason you prefer androgel to injections? Men your age don't see a significant improvement in testosterone levels from DHEA supplementation (I'm assuming you're middle aged if you're on HRT). Is your HRT a home remedy of sorts or do you see an endo? Did you have your test levels checked before taking androgel and then after you were on it for a while? Curious to know what your levels were before, and if you had any symptoms of low test.

DHT is actually probably the most sought after PH/DS/AAS other than test actually. If you have MPB tendencies, well stay away from it or deal with being bald I suppose, I have not had problems with it as I've stated before. But I use a ton of hair supplements, mostly topicals. So I would not state that DHT is something you don't want to incorporate into your cycle/hrt :D I am in the 700-800's on androgel, up from 290...using 9-12 pumps (only supposed to be using 8 pumps, but there is extra which affords the use of 10+ per day). I would say that is "just as good" as a 100mg per week injection....but with an ED hassle to it. Also I get a stable level as opposed to injections (once or twice a week), esp since I apply half in the morning and half at night. As well I can apply it where I want, to get conversion to whatever I want (example DHT in the groin area). There are a plethora of positives I can tell you about androgel. the two big negative are 1) cost and 2) hassle (daily application). I can handle the hassle of daily application since it fits my needs in every other dept....and it costs me 6 bucks a month with my current insurance. I can handle that ;). And as for being middle aged and DHEA being less effective? I believe older people are more deficient in such hormones as DHEA than younger people...as with anything your levels of EVERYTHING do down with age. Not sure why you would say that? unless there is some random study you saw, but that would be an aberration if you ask me. I have went from 290 to 360 to 687 to *probably* high 700's low 800's right now (doing the math on how I have moved up at about a ~80-90 jump per pump added and then guesstimating). I will have another check in a few months probably to get a concrete #. Not sure why you would think I am randomly creating an HRT protocol if I was not diagnosed with low T and symptoms? Not like androgel is the go-to for renegade HRT'ers :D Lol.....

Glad your protocol is working for you, and check your cp, I sent you something regarding DHEA. I didn't think you randomly made a protocol, I was just asking because some people are too shy to go to their doctor or their doctors aren't willing to help them with their low test (usually GPs are hesitant and some aren't willing to refer their patients to see an endo) so they take it upon themselves. I was just curious. And I know all about androgel, I just like to know why people think the way they do about things, it help me understand them better and then I can be more effective at helping out (if I can help out) :)

My GP won't refer anyone to an endo ....i know exactly what your talking about. I am in no way shy about seeing my low test # and asking for trt though. Hell i had to see the GPs assistant once and it was a female. The secretary asked if i was comfortable with that lol....i was like "i don't care" looking at her like she asked a stupid question. Still not sure why we had to go into my personal medical history when simply answering my questions and contentions would have sufficed. You one of those answer a question with several of your own type people right?

Yeah some GPs aren't very helpful, glad you sought help anyways because they underestimate how much low test can impact one's quality of lie. Its important to know what someone is thinking before replying so I can make sure we're on the same page. Otherwise I'm just guessing why you'd say something since I don't know you that well, and that isn't very helpful. But yes, I am one of those types of people.

I have a link to an AM post about exactly this subject, DHEA while on trt....but I need 150 posts to post it lol. I'll bump the thread later with the link so you can check it out. Some interesting info on how DHEA can help trt'ers...esp older folks. Some of the smarter people chimed in, and there are some links to good info.

speaking of fertility issues, does 100mg (or slightly less) per week of testosterone pretty much ensure infertility? I always hear about trt being a sort of male birth control. Or is there still a good chance you can knock a girl up?

It definitely lowers your sperm count, although it doesn't always make you infertile. Quite a few guys I know who blast and cruise have gotten their partners pregnant (although its still rare) so I certainly wouldn't rely on it as a birth control. Its not irreversible either, clomid can help men with fertility issues.

not sure on the amount but my endo said once he starts it I will be infertile. pretty tough decision for a 20 year old:indifferent:

well I think its a good thing considering I'm twice your age :D But yeah, if you intend on having a family that would really suck. I could have used some infertility when I was younger, got too many girls pregnant.....but never had a kid, something always happened. When your 16-24 and when your 40 plus I guess its a blessing....but 25-39 maybe you might "need it" :D

I would "suffer" and wait to jump on trt....unless you want to play with fire and hope you can restart on clomid/hcg several years from now when you're ready to have kids. May or may not work. Did you already try clomid to get back to mid-normal range at least?

Agreed. Clomid can help in the future, but you're making a big decision at a young age so consider it very carefully (as it not only affects your life, but any potential relationship you may have in the future).
