Glucosamine and Insulin sensitivity?

So I was considering taking two doses of 1500mg of Glucosamine sulfate powder however one of my buddies said he rather avoid glucosamine sulfate due to insulin sensitivity issues (glut-4 receptors).

He also mentioned that some studies shown glucosamine to have a placebo effect.

What do you guys think about this? I know lots of people who preached about Animal Flex which contains Glucosamine.

I've heard the same thing. Haven't seen any good research to support it though.
