    Borage Oil aids in fatloss?

Chris Acosta made the following comment on another forum and I would like to hear your thoughts on it. Obviously he was plugging his fat burner, but could have not maid such claim and still plugged his product.

I always liked using 1500 mgs or so of borage oil with Nordrenalean or ECA. Borage oil may help increase abctivation of brown fat the fat that surrounds the organs and sopinal column. Brown fat is a little like muscle in that its metabolically active...it helps burn fuel. Nordrenalean or ECA increases norepinepherine release which, in turn, causes fat breakdow Borage oil combined with these norepinepherine releasers increases brown fat metabolism. Thats it in a very short nutshell

even if it does some how activate i sure it would take a long time to do so, so it would only be beneficial to stay on it for a while not just while on eca

    I'll paste some info.

    Omega-6 Fats

Many studies show how the Omega-6 fats Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) & Linolenic acid (LA) help you burn fat - for example with GLA...
    • People lost between 9-to-11 pounds in 6 weeks while taking GLA during a study done by Dr Mri who's a researcher and consultant at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff but...
    • The good & bad news about most studies involving GLA is you have to be at least 10-to-20% overweight to see any results but...
    • GLA prevents weight gain in people who've lost weight plus GLA is also an appetite suppressant since it raises the levels of serotonin (and serotonin is a hormone that makes you feel full and eat less) and...
    • GLA raises your metabolism by making the "Brown fat" in your body burn calories to keep your body warm and... Brown fat (or Brown Adipose tissue or BAT) is not the same as the ugly "white" fat that accumulates on your arms, belly, thighs and other problem areas because...
    • Brown fat's main job is to burn fat calories for energy to keep your body warm but usually brown fat is not as active in overweight people and that's why You need GLA so you can "turn on" Brown fat so it can help you burn off the ugly "white" fat and...

I am a big Lyle McDonald fan ....pretty much 'cause he knows his stuff....and tells it like it is. Here is a quote from UD2.0:

"A second type of fat is brown fat which is a specialized type of fat that actually burns up the other types of fat"........"The problem is that while animals have a lot of brown fat (they need it to keep their body temperature up against the cold and such), humans lose most of their brown fat once they move past the baby phase of life."........"You should also question any supplements that claim to cause fat loss via brown fat activation; it will probably work wonderfully in you pet hamster or mouse but that's about it."

the studies are made on overweight humans, not rats or hamsters. One study I say showed that it slowed down weight regain in overweight people. another showed drop in weight. it appears helpful for overweight people.
Someone on T-Nation claimed it worked great on his brother who did not workout while he say less results. But I wouldn't take his claims seriously.
I still think it is worth trying since it is around $10.

again expect nothing extraordinary its a supplement, it aint clen, helios, eca, even those wont do a thing if diet isnt there its that simple. IMO not worth the investment of months of supplementing with it. im out, i wouldnt use it, or i find it not worth my while to.

    also are you overweight?

I'm not expecting anything from it. I found it to be interesting based on Chris Acosta's recommendation and some of the research done. What I'm wondering is if it would help when taken with fat burners as he recommends. as for the cost, its $10 a month. not really expensiveat all and it is Omega 6 fat.
It is also hard to dismiss the research specially for those who are overweight. I'm not sure why the research being dismissed here. I assume because it sounds too good to be true.

    that was good, thanks maxximal

GLA: Borage Oil is the richest source of the gamma acid, but you'll also get ads for black currant seed oil and evening primrose. All of these fatty acids have LIMITED VALUE from a body composition standpoint, when factoring in health and true study findings outside of a Petri (test tube) analysis.
