green tea and SHBG

I know that green tea is supposed to have a mild weightloss boosting affect, but it also increases SHBG. For a guy who is working hard enough to gain strength from one month to the next, would it be a good idea for me to give up my morning bottle of green tea? Could I feel like I was on Free Test without taking it?

I have been taking 5 caps of Green Tea Extract (I cap em myself) for years. It has a lot of weight loss, energy, anti-cancer and prostate protective effects. If it also raises my SHBG I never notice it. Why,....because I also take a lot of Stinging Nettle Leaf. I know all the pros and cons and actually started out using Activate Extreme with good results. Nowadays I simply megadose Vitacost's inhouse NSI brand with it's 480 mg per cap($10 for 100 caps). Of course I take 2 caps, 3 X daily after meals along with my Beta-Sitosterol. I have been repeatedly measured at 3.25 or so in my Free Test because of this. My Urologist monitors my results and just tells me to keep on doing the same thing. Not to be gross but I just went through a good reminder of how well my Free Test stays up LOL. I fogot to bring it along on a trip up north to visit the kids and grandkids. My constant arousal disappeared and now after a couple days home again and back on my Stinging Nettle, I am aware a half dozen times a night and when I wake up that I am already up, so to speak. In the gym or in bed it's like being 50 years younger!

Neither have i....Im always looking into green tea and only hear great things about it. I will always have green tea or caps in my diet...

I've never seen any research suggesting that any amount of green tea has any effect on SHBG.

This thread has me concerned, but it seems there isn't a large awareness of this, or even a belief in it. Can the OP cite his initial impetus (study) for posting? I enjoy green tea a LOT, and don't want to drop or reduce it because of its purported effect on SHBG. Thanks.

I don't think there's anything to worry about... We would have heard about it..that's a pretty big deal if it were true..especially how good and how many people take green tea..so I will cont to take it until proved wrong...no study? No stoping me :-)

A few cups of green tea here and there is fine. Worry not.

The many benefits of green tea outweigh any mild negative effects. The polyphenols from green tea protect the dopamine-producing cells. Dopamine keeps you focused, confident and plays a huge role in sexual function. In other words keep taking your green tea! Sometimes I like to stack Green Tea, L-dopa, L-tyrosine and Quercitin(Helps prevent dopamine breakdown) For a nice Dopamine rush that lead to incredible workouts :)

Green tea really is an incredibly useful, effective and all around health benefiting supplement. I either use the NOW version or if I'm not in a pinch when I order, I'll get the Primordial version which is all sorts of organic and sh!t and is top notch

I've used Prim capsules and they are excellent and at a good price. Nutraplanets are good as well as dirt cheap. NOW sells good quality also.
