I have a bad knot up and around my right shoulder blade for 2 yrs now. I cant do over head presses anymore only back movements i can do is chinups. I can incline and flat bench no probs. Read some stuff on ppl lacking calcium and magnesium having bad leg cramps and knots. Anyone else have anything likes this. i use ice and massage the area to give a temp relief. any supps i may need or equipment that can get rid of this knot? thanks

would if i had insurace
^^^ What he said, especially if you've had it for two years now....

If you don't have insurance, take the $50 you would have spent on a supp and pay out of pocket.

So, a magnesium deficiency can lead to increased muscle cramping, but if you always have it in the same location, and for so long, ... could be more serious? Could be a side effect of bad posture, for example, if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer for work. Or a cyst under the skin. But I'm just speculating here

Hope you get it sorted out though, so you can get back to those overhead presses!

Cheers.

Go get a massage. Ask for deep tissue. You should be able to find a good place for $50/hr. If that doesn't help, go to a chiropractor.

Your external rotators are probably weak and overstretched and you may have tight pecs. You need to stretch out your pecs, do less pressing for a while including bench/incline, do SMR on your scapulae and a few other mobility exercises and it should start to clear up. Any "pushing" exercises will probably make it worse in the long run. PM me if you want more ideas on mobility exercises.
