  1. l carnitine tartrate

    Hi

anyone using a supplement containing the above. The only one ive come across is Gaspari s Anavite .

    Thanks

  2. yes I'm using it.

Protocol from Genomyx has it, a friend gave me a bottle of Androcept that i use on off days and Anavite as my multi. I still have some bulk RPN tubs i tap into now and then too. Now Foods has it in a tablet and caps (good stuff).

...and i think a preworkout from BCS has too i think. Might be the drink not the caps.

upregulate androgen receptors and help to promote use of stored fat for energy.

There's a really interesting study done on LCLT on google scholar that shows LCLT also increases LH indirectly by increasing the number of androgen receptors.

  5. yes dosage is 2 g ed

As there is androgen receptors in scalp and prostate , wouldnt the upregulation increase the possibility of enhancing mpb and increasing the risk of prostate cancer?

  7. The current preworkout drink that I consume Bulldozer XL5000 has L-Carnitine L Tartrate. I usually take 3 scoops on workout days, 1.5 grams of LCLT. There are claims that it helps free up more androgen receptors thus increasing testosterone. Overall, Carnitine does help be with increased energy.

  8. i find it helps with strength gains more than anything. i wish RPN was still selling its bulk powder thru nutra.

The good thing about it, is it does NOT aggrevate the AR receptors within the prostate which makes it quite the catch.
    doing my own thang!

  10. A must try for me.

  11. have heard really good things about anavite

BUMP. Do you have the study to back this up?

  13. Pm RussianStar, he showed it to me a while back, which def relieved me. I already get prostate pain from having such high DHT/Testosterone.

Good stuff! Thanks! I've been cycling carnitines for a while now so it's definitely a relief.

I don't go without it, around 8g per day. Just buy pure bulk, don't overpay for labels, advertising, or 'blends.' You can get 250g for $25 where I buy it, and it's been great during the months I've used it.

  16. Um, you guys do know that you can order it on NP in bulk for dirt cheap, right? http://www.nutraplanet.com/product/n...100-grams.html

  17. **** Anavite...go with nutra's bulk.

  18. Hmm, that is def a major plus! Good to know, I actually worried about that when previously looking into it. If thats the case, I may add some protocol into my next contest prep. Thanks bro.

Yeah it's a good price, the only thing is it's the exact same price from the website I buy the majority of my raws from, so I always gravitate toward them.

  20. LCLT is pretty cheap and has some interesting studies. For $10bucks, 2g a day would be a fun 50 day experiment and see how you like it. Consider stacking ALCAR on top for focus or some PLCAR.

I've been doing 10g/day for a few months now, really enjoy it. The taste and smell is at least bearable.

What effects are you noticing at such a high dose? THanks!

How do you split the dosing up? Do you take any anti-oxidants after your doses?

    Definitely curious about this too

  24. How is it different than NP ALCAR? I am presently dosing 3/5 grams per day. Great energy all day, no low points, leaning out noticeably, focus and cognitive improvement is impressive.

How is Tartate better? Revues and benefits seem identical butcit's much more expensive.

  25. LCLT is an outstanding stuff

l-Carnitine tartrate, naturally found in some foods, acts to stabilize l-carnitine. l-Carnitine is a dipeptide found in great abundance in the body, especially the heart and skeletal muscle. It maintains efficient fat utilization by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria where they can be broken down by a process called beta oxidation (fat metabolism) to produce energy. A recent study reported that oral l-carnitine supplementation in healthy subjects promotes optimal long-chain fatty acid oxidation. Additionally, l-carnitine helps to clear short and medium chain fatty acids from the mitochondria that would otherwise accumulate over time. This helps to keep metabolic processes running smoothly and efficiently. l-Carnitine also promotes cardiovascular health by supporting ventricular function and antioxidant activity. Additionally research also suggests a role for l-carnitine in supporting muscle repair after strenuous exercise. The results of one study indicated an attenuation of muscle strain and fatigue when exercisers were given l-carnitine-l-tartrate supplements prior to completing a high repetition strength regimen, suggesting l-carnitine may help reduce post-exercise recovery time.

Recommended dosage is 2000 mg in divided doses, between meals.

Volek JS, Kraemer WJ, Rubin MR, Gomez AL, Ratamess NA, Gaynor P. L-Carnitine L-tartrate supplementation favorably affects markers of recovery from exercise stress. Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab 2002 Feb;282(2):E474-82.

But maybe can check another form of it

l-Carnitine fumarate promotes healthy fat metabolism, oxygenation of the heart muscle, and enhances high intensity training much like l-carnitine-l-tartrate. However, unlike most forms of carnitine, l-carnitine fumarate provides dual support for energy production and cardiovascular function in addition to providing a stable form of carnitine. Fumarate is a key compound in the Krebs cycle, which is the major energy-producing pathway preceding the electron transport chain. This intimate connection with energy metabolism makes l-carnitine fumarate an excellent supplement for enhanced muscle and fat metabolism support.

I just feel as thought I recover fast, and I also feel like there is at least a small effect on increasing the rate of fat loss. As far as what I purchased it for, AR up-regulation, I of course can't 'tell' or 'prove' that it's working, but I'd like to think it is.

I take a lot of Need 2 Slin, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin C/E etc throughout the day, so I would have to say yes, I definitely do. Why do you ask, I wasn't familiar with LCLT causing free radical formation. Thanks.

Well, during a cut I was using DCP and added PLCAR and DSADE suggested I supplement with an AOX 1.5-2hrs (if I remember correctly) after carnitine dosing because of fatty acid oxidation. So seeing that you were using a fair amount of LCLT I wanted to see if you followed the a similar protocol.

Very interesting... thanks for the heads up, I'm going to make sure I keep my anti-ox regimen up.
