What Casein Protein do you use?

Been using ON's for a while and it tastes pretty horrible, so thinking about venturing out and trying a different brand..

I know where your coming from. I switched from ON to ISS Research Micellar Matrix. I've gone through tubs of this stuff.

Check out some of the user reviews for our casein on our subforum. Rodja (I think) said "Best.Casein. Ever" for our chocolate casein.

I can back this up as well. I tried the Casein from Trutein, and it is damn good. I have been meaning to order the 5lb'r, just been insanely low on scratch lately. But when I can, Ill grab it.

It's great stuff! :bigok:

I'm switching to Complete Milk Protein from Casein.

Milk Protein usually contains 80/20 Casein/Whey and usually has some peptides not found in either Casein or Whey (you lose them when you seperate them).

The issue I've found with Casein is the mixibility and thickness. Some pure Casein products will not mix well at all and you need a blender to mix them. I found Isolates to mix much better than concentrates. But I now use the blender to mix everything.

Taste wise, I just add few rasberries to all my shakes and that takes care of the taste.

cottage cheese
or maybe some lean pro8
IDK i have a sample of leanpro8 gonna try it soon see how it taste. its says it has 8 fast, medium, and slow releasing proteins so IDK

You will see this often in the industry: many companies like to pose WPI as their main ingredient or as 100% of the protein supplement and when you mix it instead of it being watery-like it is actually quite thick. That's how you know you got yourself a bogus product (and company).

Casein is SO good- I have only ever tried ON's Casein and I actually liked it- but I have lost faith in ON recently so I am going with trutein- I will have like 250-300 bucks to blow next month

And a 6lb tub of casein will be part of that

GET MONEY

Yes I noticed that with one of them. The one I am using right now "Aussie Casein" mixes extremely well, but I can't find much information on their quality except from the site I ordered it. I'm looking for CMPI and trying it from another custom supplier.

Whey protein quality was an issue for me as well. But I solved that by switching to CFM Whey. Now the hunt for good quality Casein or Milk product.

TruSciences Casein:

TruBasics Micellar Casein is derived from a 50/50 blend of milk protein isolate and milk protein concentrate. Milk proteins are 80% Micellar Casein and 20% whey, so TruBasics Micellar Casein does contain a small amount of whey. This whole protein source is superior to isolated “micellar casein” because it retains important bioactive peptide fractions otherwise lost during the extraction process. Micellar casein is also superior to sodium and calcium caseinates due to its purity and the absence of mineral salts

I recently bought a 5lb tub of Trutein 40/40/20 blend in the Chocolate PB flavor. Delicious.

I almost bought some last time i ordered from nutraplanet, prob will for sure this time...

tru that, cottage cheese is cheap source of casein, and is what i use when im bulking, Im starting a cut though and like to go the casein route on those..

I have not had their Choc. or cookies n creme, I liked choc. PB but I had it so much that i just got sick of it, and vanilla / banana was not fun for me.. I may possibly try out the choc. or cookies n creme flavor... I will be mixin with 2 cups almond milk by the way, so that automatically improved the taste of most of them, except banana..

When I mix TruSciences Casein with almond milk it turns to pudding. I have to eat it with a spoon!

Does it still taste pretty good?

That makes two of us that doesnt like thick substances going down our throat. :shocked1: But yeah, ill do about 16 oz of almond milk then depending on consistency add another 5-10 oz of water..

Yes it tastes really good. I actually prefer it this way over drinking it. I will also mix a scoop of it in my greek yogurt.

Almond milk is the bomb!!:bigok:

I'm so glad I found this thread. I have been using ON's casein for the past 2 months and I'm damn ready for something different. I can't stand the taste.

i have been using ONs cookies and cream, 16oz half&half, 4 scoops C&C MHP Up Your Mass, 2 scoops C&C ON casein

Sounds like massive gas attack and gastrointestinal disruption!
not even a squeek or a rumble, I thought that the first tyme i made it too, but the key is slow sipping, **** takes me almost an hour to drink all 16 or so ozs. But we alll know thats best for maximum uptake.

Zodiac, how does a shake made wth almond milk compare with a shake made with regular mile in terms of taste?

One helluva lot sweeter!! I'm eating 1 cup of oatmeal,1/4 cup raisins, and 2 scoops of their vanilla Isolate all mixed with vanilla almond milk. This is a great way to start the day!

How come no one mentioned Muscle Feast Micellar casien I have been useing their Micellar casien for the past 5 months and I must say their casien is excellent. I buy it unflavored for $35 for 5lbs and I mix 1 scoop with 1 scoop of flavored isolate and I have 2 sources of the best protein. They actually just started flavoring their proteins so on my order this week I purchased 15lbs of micellar casien and 15lbs of their whey iso flavored choc/straw. When I receive it this week I will post back and let everyone know how their flavored isolates taste. Their prices are very good and their customer service is also good and they ship for free if you spend $50 or more.

I have some Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide 2.0 which taste AMAZING but isnt cheap stuff by any means.

Plus I also have ON Casein cho pb 4 pounds. I remember it being thicker and more filling but still not bad. Maybe I had the regular chocolate sample.
