I am currently having some personal issues and am getting some insane anxiety from all of this. Any suggestions on anything OTC? I quit my caffeine and ephedra and am interested in something I can take throughout the day to help keep me level headed without feeling sluggish until this feeling passes. I've never tried anything in the past except cutting out stimulants and increasing workout intensity to combat this and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear about your probs B&P. Nobody likes going through difficult times, and it always seems to happen when you least expect it. I'm not sure what you can take off-hand, but maybe you could look into some herbal supps. Bulk Nutrition offers a line of herbs fr good prices. 5-htp is supposed to elevate Seratonin levels in the brain, which in turn I understand is what contributes to feelings of well being.

Otherwise, you might want to ask your doc about it bro?

I know you are looking for OTC, but seriously consider Lexapro.

I went on that a year ago for personal issues that caused anxiety, and I have had zero side-effects.

However, I did have a 'positive' side-effect......I can hold-out much longer in the sack ;)
Other people who have used Lexapro have reported the same thing. There has been ZERO decrease in my libido. I'm still the same horny bastard that my girlfriend loves.

How did it work for your anxiety? I have gone though this every few years for a long time and it always goes away, but this time I am married and have a kid and it isn't in my best interest to wait these phases out for the rest of my life. I am thinking about seeing someone this week about all of this. Don't know if it will be someone who can write scripts, but any professional advice at this point just might be in my best interest.

Doctors write prescriptions.
Prescriptions help with symptoms.
If you need help with symptoms, go to a doc.

Life is full of situatuions.
Your perceptions of and reactions to situations cause anxiety.
If you resolve situations or change your perception of their importance,
you fix your anxiety, not just the symptoms.

Cancer, death, prison... this is big ****.
Bills, asshole at work, car not running...this is little ****.

Don't sweat the little **** or you will always be sweating.
 
i added 1000-1500mg of l-tyrosine to my ECA stacks when it started to give me anxiety and it worked like a charm for me.

dunno if it would work on it's own but it's cheap enough to experiment with. i used the Sci-Fit brand but i think Now Foods has just brought out a cheaper one.

cammomile tea later in the day works well and also 5-htp as PC1 mentioned as well.
although i've never tried the 5-htp a friend of mine swears by it for his depression.

anxiety sucks. i never had it till i gave up all my "bad habits" :(

It can't hurt to see a doctor. My anxiety is gone since I've been on the Lexapro. I did 10mg/day for 4 months, and then increased it to 20mg/day. I can honestly say that my life is much better since being on it. I told my doctor right off the bat that I would ONLY consider Lexapro.....since it was marketed as having no bad sexual side-effects.

I had anxiety for 2 years before I finally saw a doctor.....I always said that I could beat anxiety on my own....without meds. I was able to beat other issues in my life without help, but this is the first time that I'm glad I reached out for help.
The anxiety was interfering with workouts and my general health. Since I've been using it, I can focus better in the gym and have been making the best gains of my life at age 32. Plus, my personal relationships have improved with my current girlfriend and my family.

Keep in mind, that it takes about a month to get into your system....I noticed the effects at around 3 weeks or so.

Don't let a doctor try and treat you with Paxil.....It will ruin your love life.

Thanks for the input fellas. I have an appointment for the doc next Tuesday and just picked up some 5-htp to try in the meantime. I can tell the anxiety was fading before I picked up the sups, but the sooner this goes away the better. I will take your advice on the lexapro if it comes down to meds, Gumbo.
 
are you taking some recreational drugs like coke or xtc? drugs that release seritonin and dopamine can and will cause anxiety/panic attacks.

large dosages of caffeine cause anxiety attacks too...ive tried 5htp for my anxiety attacks...didnt do jack for me...i find that piracetam helps the most.

anyways...after i dropped the caffeine ive been fine.

Nope, no rec drugs whatsoever. Quit nicotine back inJanuary and quit caffeine and ephedra last week when this all started. I read a lot of good things on 5-htp and had a coupon for the sup store so I'm giving that a try and will see how it pans out and what the doc says next week.
 
im running phosphadylserine at 800 mgs a day(NOW's) and it really seems to be alleviating it for me..heard rhonda posea or however its spelled is good and cheap especially through 1fast..l-tryptophan is good and can be found easily but its damn pricey
 
with 5-htp, watch out for the serotonin overdose sides, which include nausea, headaches, dizziness, and inability to concentrate, vivid dreams, etc.

I think it's better to start slow with the 50mg dosage and work you way up until you feel normal. I know it's helped me with my anxiety and panic attacks.
 
Kava helped me alot since it was OTC. I even took it in college before exams. But when it came down to real-**** anxiety, talking to someone about it was my biggest help. I am sure anyone on this board will lend an ear in a chatroom if you need it.

you don't understand what gumbo went through. he said he had it for 2 years and if you had it for that long it would be a hard thing to stop. it really sucks cuz it can be something you can't overcome and can consume your whole life with depression. of course some cases are more severe than others.

To a certain degree, you can. What if you get your dick blown off in a freak hunting accident? Explain how you would overcome that? Would the power of 'belief' make you sprout a new dick?

This is obviously an extreme example, but you cannot overcome everything.

Sounds easy to someone who's never dealt with anxiety. I tried to tough it out for years until my wife talked me into seeing a doctor. It came in spurts. For weeks at a time I couldn't workout or eat. All I wanted to do was sleep. The doctor put me on Paxil and I feel like a new man now. I have not seen the sexual side effects of Paxil that some talk about.

phenibut is 10x better than ssri's, and your hair won't fall out like some peoples do. There is a thread about it in the prohormone section right now.

no, im not here to argue and fight.but why would you even think of your dick blowing off in a freak hunting accident....im into pyschology and your answer says that you are not comfortable with your dick.try Invalid Link Removed ..and test it out and tell me if it works.

my point is why even think like that and be negative...if you think postive things ...you will attract postive things into your life. same with negative......

as for a supplement you can try gaba..and its good for hgh release

LOL - I was just using an extreme example. I'm a very upbeat person and am quite comfortable with my plumbing.

Keep in mind, that I never had depression. Rather it was anxiety over things in my life...money, relationship, etc. I've always been a very postive person and this has brought me much success in the gym, with money, career, etc. My anxiety was usually over things "out of my control". I can honestly say that since I've been using Lexapro, my outlook has not changed on life (still happy and upbeat), BUT I do not worry about **** I have no control over any more.
It has allowed me to focus on issues that I CAN control and I have seen tremendous gains in life since using it.

My only point is that some people do have chemical issues when it comes to anxiety, depression, etc and meds can abviously help. Just like stress can cause erectile dysfunction, we now have Viagra and Cialis to assist.

Yes, positive thinking always helps....Sometimes, people need more than that.

Oh yeah....I've never had problems getting women :twisted:

I do very well for myself in that category. My original problem was that I was always looking for more...I was never satisfied.

thom i dont know if Invalid Link Removed is bs or not.im sketpial; intill its proven..i was just trying to get gumbo to ginea pig it for me.

sure im comfortable with my penis:although it would be nice to have a bigger penis. Every man wants this unless they are John Holmes,has a lil penis and proud of it,or a girl.
