L-Carnitine Not tasting Sweet

I just purchased:

Solgar Maxi L-Carnitine 500 mg. I chewed a tablet. It had no taste (except a little chalky filler) at all. When I last used L-Carnitine, I took it in a capsule, (powder inside) it had a very very sweet taste. The taste might be interpreted as citrus/sour, but it was very strong and present. Is something wrong with the supplement that I am taking.

no, often maltodextrin is used as a filler/flow agent in caps, which might have made it sweet tasting. straight l-carnitine isn't sweet, none of the aminos are

i have bulk alcar from nutra and it has an extremely sour taste.

x2. I spilled some when capping it and it definetely needs a chaser. How capsules pre capped would have a taste I don't know. I've had several capped brands of L-Carnitine and never noticed any taste besides the cap itself.

There are different forms too. I have some Carnitine L-Tartrate and it tastes like battery acid!
