    question about creatine


    How should you take creatine? Before, during, or after your workout? Can you take creatine with your protein shake or would it be better to take them at different times? Also are creatine and protein really the only supplements you need to put on more mass? Appreciate the feedback.

    Take it post workout to help your body recover. I will try and dig up an article on a sporting journal site regarding the benefits of post-workout supplementation with creatine.

    Not wise to take before a workout as some contain large concentrations of Na+ which will sit in the stomach and drawl water away from active skeletal muscles. You can take creatine with your protein shake, yes that's fine. You're body will store what it needs and excrete what it doesn't need. Creatine, itself DOES NOT aid in recovery, nor muscular hypertrophy. Simplistically, it is a carrier/transporter for an inorganic phosphate group.

    3g pre or post workout would be fine (your choice). You don't need to load, no need to cycle. It's fine to take with post workout protein if you so choose.

    As for if they're all you need, along with a good diet, you can put on some very good size. Of course, protein is a big part of a proper diet.
