What constitues an empty stomach?

Some of the supps I take (ZMA, PWO supp) say to take it on an empty stomach, but I've never really thought about what that means. How long after eating do they consider your stomach to be empty. I've always waited about an hour if time permits.

45 min. to an hour is probably a good time frame.
