First off, let me just say hello, this is my first post

I am 22 years old, about 5'6, and 180lb.

I am trying to lose some fat and get some muscle back.

I do a lot of running during the day, mainly treadmill, especially since winter is coming along. I can't do a lot of weight lifting, I was in the military and got injured and lost a finger and had to get my wrist fused in place and suffered some nerve damage. So the injury limits my right arm strength significantly.

I've been told about Whey, NO-Xplode and Creatine and other supplements. But I'm not exactly sure what to look into. I've tried to do some research, but I'm just not comprehending.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I'm kind of new to the whole forum board things.

Also, a friend told me about a product called "Full Force", anyone every try it?

that truely sucks about your arm.
thanks for your service.

i would not get not get xplode, some other people can reccomend you some better pre-workout products.

get some whey, xtend, beta alanine, citruline malate

If your looking into specialty products, DCP is a great non-stim fat burner.
Diesel Test Hardcore is a good test booster

a form of creatine other than mono, unless u can handle the cramps

also since u have never damage, are u on any painkillers?

other people will reccomend some other stuff

Thanks for your suggestions.

I'm "fully healed". No pain killers or anything for a couple years. Theres not really pain, i just cant lift as much as i used too.

This is a great sale for bcaa + creatine. All are in stock beside the watermelon + lemon.
Whey, bcaa, and multi vits are usually the basics.

I am sorry about the nerve damage.

About the supplement called "Full Force" if it is in a black bottle, forget it, there are better options.

Are you aiming to gain muscle or to lose fat?

I agree start out with the diet. Get some workout time under your belt before introducing any supplements. Then begin to look into a whey protein to take post workout and use as a possible meal supplement, some also like casein protein (slow acting 8 hours i believe) this is prefered to be taken prior to bed, I however do not find the need for it. I would also look into a creatine as stated. Honestly a creatine Mono is the easiest. People will show you and tell you that this creatine works better than that. I would say creatine mono, grape juice (aid in absoprtion). BCAA if you feel so. But, I would start out with creatine first as well as whey so that you do not feel 'supplement overload'. BCAA as best when used on a cut. Also avoid stimulant fat burners for as long as possible unless you feel it is upmost necessary. Just work on a good diet. Get to know your body if it tolerates low carb-no carb, if it has carb rebound, ect. That is what i would recommend prior to any supplementation. Truth be told the world of supplements is easy to get lost in with everyone throwing this and that at your. Keep it simple. Find what works. good luck, PM with any questions.

do you eat a lot of carbs, then some bulk p-slin or lg slin will do you good.

for pre-workout i like superpump250 is my fav, a lot of people like ragnorok and No Shotgun.

liquid, well a little of both. I got some extra baggage and lost some muscle during my "down time".

I try to workout everyday... usually a mile on the treadmill in the morning and a mile in the evening. As well as 50 situps and crunches mid day and night.

Texaslifter, when you mention the diet, are you referring to the Workout Nutrition Stack liquid suggested?

The Whey I've read about most is Gold Standard Optimum 100% Whey, is that fine?

I will check that other thread out.

ari, my diet is mostly protein. My family runs a private butcher shop, so I gladly take the occasional cow...or 2...or 3. Pasta usually a couple times a week though. A lot of corn, potatoes, etc..

I need to cut down on the meat intake, I'm limiting my salt use as well.

When I say diet I meant just that. What you eat, Not what you supplement. If you don't have a god base diet, chances are more than less you will be wasting money on supplements. Get good Carbohydrate sources (Wheat Bread, Brown Rice, Vegetables), Good protein sources (Lean Beef, Chicken Breats, Talapia, Whey), and good fats (Nuts, Peanut Butter, Extra virgin olive oil). This is Key before supplementing. Please check out the link I posted. Read that and ask me any questions for there, It should help for the most part.

As for ON protein, yes that will do. Buying on the internet will save money I personally prefer All the Whey 5 Lbs, Just about any common named whey will do however

Sorry about your arm, and thanks for your service. Sounds like you are able to work around the injury and maintain a decent workout routine which is great. Exercise is probably the only thing that is going to strengthen it, and it's even better for your mind in my opinion.

I don't think you have to be an "experienced" lifter to take supplements. A good whey protein isolate would be helpful. It is low fat and low carb and fast absorbing. All The Whey has a reasonably priced isolate that is supposed to taste pretty good.

As others have recommended, I would look into a good BCAA (Extend, Purple Wrath, etc) for recovery. Beta Alanine is good for endurance. I would strongly suggest Acetyl L Carnitine (ALCAR). It's great for endurance and it helps your cells metabolize fats for energy, aiding in fat loss.

Purple Wrath has a good amount of BCAA's w/ Beta Alanine and Citrulline Malate per serving. I take a serving an hour pre workout and take a serving of Xtend (BCAA's only) afterward. The BCAA's and Whey Protein go a long way for recovery and soreness.

If you want a good pre-workout stimulant, RPM is the way to go. I haven't heard a bad review for it yet.

Check out Nutraplanet's site. You can get ALCAR in bulk and creatine mono in bulk pretty cheap. I don't recommend the bulk BCAA because they taste really bad unless you cap it.

Refrain from the supplements that are just a mixture of many ingredients in small amounts. They are overpriced and aren't worth it. Nanovapor is a good example of this.

These should be the basics and help you with your goals no matter how much lifting experience you have.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST DOING A GOOGLE OR SEARCH ON THIS FORUM of any of the ingredients in a supplement you are considering before purchasing it so you don't end up buying something useless, or worse, buy steroids without realizing it.

Great advice!

Thanks for your replies all. I will be looking into all those suggestions today.

For a diet... is there a "normal" or a standard diet that most people stick to? I'm looking for like a diet guide of some sort i guess that would suit me for my goals.

Yes in that link I sent you it discusses diets, nutrition, what sources to get the nutrition from, general ideas during a bulk & cut. Seriously check it out it will help you.

Alright fellas, im back. It's been about a week, so obviously no huge results...BUT! I did change my diet, instead of fried chicken, its just plain chicken breasts. Also some lean meat and the ocassional spoon of PB :) I totally cut out the pop, beer, candy, etc.. And I already lost 5lb :) I got a few left to go ;) But I feel healthier I think. I have a little more energy now that I've been eating ok.

I was thinking about purchasing these, and would like an oppinion of them:

Gaspari Nutrition Cytolean, 120 Extended Release Capsules
Optimum 100% Whey Protein, 5 Lbs., Chocolate Malt
Nutrex Lipo 6, 120 Liqui-Caps
Optimum Protein Diet, 40 Servings, Vanilla Ice Cream
MAN Scorch, 168 Thermo-Caps

What are your stats? And goals?

I would also recommend the following:

Fish Oil/Omega 3.....they are inexpensive and will lean you out a bit. Dont expect huge differences but they'll help.

Multivitamin & amino acids- i take animal packs but thats just because i work at a gym and get a "good" deal, there are others at better prices.

Also, I agree with Ari. I have tried No Explode and I prefer gaspari Superpump by far for a preworkout/NO supplement.

I can't say much about the fat burners, I don't use them. I wouldn't recommend No-Explode if you are taking a fat burner because its caffeinated. CLA or Sesamin should help with fat loss along w/ some bulk ALCAR.

As far as the protein, I really like the All The Whey brand isolate. 25 grams of protein per scoop with no fat and 1 gram of carb. And the taste is great.

I agree that Fish Oil and a Multivitamin should be staples. The Fish Oil will be beneficial to your circulatory system, assist in weight loss, and lubricate your joints. A good multi vitamin will assist with absorption of nutrients and provide micros.

Nutraplanet is a great place to get supplements. Order $200 or more and you get free shipping. You will get much more product for your dollar than if you go to a retailer. Plus there is no taxes.

You can search by product type or manufacturer. If you see something you might like, do a search here for reviews.

Oh yeah, props for cutting out the soda, beer, and candy. That will go a long way towards your over all well being. It's truly amazing when people complain about being fat when they drink more soda than water everyday, drink every weekend, and eat processed foods.

I bought the Whey on nutra, I checked out GNC...good lord :jaw:

soda and candy aint hard... the beer.... well... i am from Wisconsin :(
