Bad Workout

Nothing to do with supplements, but just got home from the gym. I did back and bi's today and didn't feel right the entire time I was there. My bi's workout was almost painful, and when I left the gym I felt like it was a waste of time. Anyone ever have workouts like that? Could it be from not getting enough carbs today or what? Maybe should have just made today an off day.

Yeah I get days like that. Sometimes it just means I need a snack or a nap & then try again later, but sometimes nothing helps and I just need to go home. The last one is always a sad fact, but if you need the rest you need the rest, and tomorrow is another day!

Post your current supplements and I'll see what I can help you with... but as the above user stated... sometimes you just have days like that and there's nothing you can do about it... that's just the way it is.

i had a 2 month long period where it was painful to train bis. whenever i tried curling, be it dumbells, barbells or cables, i only felt extreme pain in my forearms, and never got any sort of pump, or even felt as if the biceps were worked. what i did was drop the weight, and do some more direct training to forearms. if this problem persists, and you curl heavy and don't train forearms regularly, id try that, otherwise it was probably just a bad day.

How long have you been training for? We all have off days, or days that we feel like trash.

I've been lifting for a few years, with the last year being VERY inconsistant so I count it as not working out at all. Started back up a couple months ago and have been hard at it since. As far as supplements go just very basic stuff, creatine, protein, glutamine, multi is about it. I mean, I've had days before where I really didn't want to be there but forced myself.. but today mentally I wanted to be there, was looking forward to it all day, but it's like Necro said.. just didn't get any kind of pump or feel like I got a workout at all. Bi's usually get really tight and get a great pump when I work out. Maybe just worn out

it may be a possibility that because of the inconsistency of your training, you dont have the same strength that you used to, but you tried using the same weight that you would have. try using a bit less and working your way back up.

happened to me today too. woke up just feeling like doing nothing, and thought to myself "maybe i should just call my friend and say lets lift tomorrow" but i went anyway. today was supposed to be back and bi's which then turned into only back...which then turned into 3 excercises with 3 sets each for back. basically left feeling drained have felt horrible the rest of the day. i think i needed more sleep.

does anyone know the science behind a random pump, when your not working out. like, today at work my biceps got a little tight and veins were dilated.. even after having that bad workout last night. i used to get those alot and just wondering if anyone knows if it means anything..(muscles starving for protein, carbs, dehydrated.. anything like that?)

not very scientific- but here goes:
1. ample carbs
2. ample calories
3. ample rest
4. positive nitrogen balance
5. muscular recovery from the training-induced microtrauma and a flood of different anabolic factors (Prostaglandins, etc.) into that given area

more or less- it is caused by your body putting itself back together...
