Anabolic Pump - Horrible Stomach Problems

I would first like to say that YES, I have read the entire anabolic pump manual and as many posts as I could find about anabolic pump using the search function. I have also tried the different timing of anabolic pump (first did 15 minutes, and I have now extended it to 30 minutes until my 60 gram carbohydrate meal).

Since the first day I started taking it I have experienced horrible stomach irritation that causes me to have horrible diarrhea! First I just figured it was just my stomach getting used to anabolic pump and from other posts, it seemed to be normal. The following 1st week a lot of the irritation and anabolic dumps subsided to only 3 times a day (which was a lot better than what it was the first couple of days). But now in week 2-3 Ive had the worst stomach irritation ever. It seems to be worse on my off days when I don't workout.

To just explain how bad this is....for the past 5 days (this has been my off week after was working out on a strict regimen for 2 months) I have experienced the worst of all stomach irritation! I've been averaging at least 10 anabolic dumps a day....and they aint solid anymore. It is pure diarrhea at its worst...constant squirts, constant stomach irritation all day- its hard for me to get through my 3 hour classes without having to bolt to the rest room and let it out!

I have not changed my diet at all - Its been staying clean with lean meats, complex carbs, and only good fats. I'm also not taking any other supplements as of now - just a multivitamin and protein powder that i've always been taking.

I love the feeling of not being bloated that anabolic gives me after eating a high carb meal! But i hate this constant diarrhea! What's the deal? Is it just from not working out during taking it that makes the difference? I'm eating plenty of carbs, and I've tried eating more carbs after taking it (up to 80-100 grams) to test if that was what was causing it...turns out that didn't work either.

Is there anything else I should try? Am I just not compatible with anabolic pump? (is that even possible?) and should I just stop using it? Please help! Any advice would be appreciated!

Same thing happens to me bro.

Just quit it - its not worth the shits and those nasty wet farts.

If you got it at Vitamin Shoppe you can return it.

I would agree, for the immediate future at least. AP most induces gastrointestinal stress due to anti-microbial action which releases the bowel mechanism. Supplementing for one to two weeks with a potent probiotic enyzme complex may assist in attenuating some of this distress. I would attempt the following suggestion, and at your discretion begin Anabolic Pump again.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys...I was going to stop after my dose this morning because I've already gone to the crapper 4 times since taking it. ( I thought I would give it one more shot on my day back to working out, but it aint happening so far!).

I'm just disappointed I paid 40 bucks for something that seems to work for almost everyone else so great besides me! I didn't even get the pumps everyone talked about! it just made me feel less bloated after eating a high carb meal! I bought it from nutra planet...so I don't think ill be getting any return money on it :(

Hopefully starting superpump/size on today will make me feel better about spending so much money on supplements!

The key is (as you are aware), everyone is different. When i read the above post it made me cringe when you mentioned the SuperPump250 product. The worst 2 or 3 workouts of my life were a direct result of SP250 dosing. I am in no way talking down on the Gaspari products; the point is 'Everyone is different.'

As Mullet said, i have had some people use pro-biotic enzyme complex and the side effects have went away. If you feel like you are stuck with the product, you can always list it in the classifieds section.

Best of luck with the rest of your training

Haha...Greattttt. Hopefullly I am different than you as far as superpump250 goes then. If this doesn't do anything for me i'm done with supplements for awhile. My last few supplements I have bought have done nothing but hindered progress....

I feel like I should just stick with my clean diet and take a gatorade to the gym as my pre/intra supplement lol....that seemed to work better with less ass pain.

I've been using AP for months and have not once had an upset stomach from it, so unfortunately it does seem to vary person to person. I'm sorry to hear it did not workout for you bro :( I would consider listing it in the supplement auction area of the site, so you can recoup some of the cost, or do a trade.

Now, to recommend for you something that will work....

Something that I KNOW is not gonna mess with your stomach is transdermal formestane. Formestane is an anti-estrogen (aromatise inhibiter), and using it for 8 weeks will boost your body's *natural* testosterone levels. You will gain strength, muscles mass, and loose fat. The good news is that it is not super expensive, the bad news is you are going to have to make it yourself. Don't let let that scare you though, because the rewards are more than worth it I assure you. When I say make it I don't mean put on a lab coat Pat Arnold status, I mean you are going to have to buy some bulk power, a transdermal carrier, and mix and measure them out. Not that difficult.

All the information you need about this is here:

http://anabolicminds.com/forum/supplement-articles/68467-neoborn-s-formestane.html

If you want to consider something a bit less involved, but still effective:

- Palo Alto Labs Incarnate (beta alanine & cissus, look them up!)

or

- Designer Supplements AcTivate Extreme (natural test booster)

Big Casino - Yeah man, seems to vary from person to person. I NEVER have stomach issues. I have a very very strong stomach...I was always the guy that did all the eating contests, was able to choke down anything and everything no matter what. So this really did take me for surprise which is why I thought I must be doing something wrong if everyone else is loving the supplement so much (including my good friend who got me to buy it in the first place).

And yes..i'm willing to sell the rest. I'm at work right now so I can't tell you exactly how many I have left. When I get back home I will count my remaining supply and will take the best offer!

Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

Too bad you don't have a stomach like mine. I must have plenty of bacteria because I've eaten food that makes my whole family sick to their stomach and been fine. You could try and fortify your body with some extra probiotics, but to me it seems like AP just doesn't agree with you. Listen to your body.

My ass just exploded from Anabolic Pump! Not a pleasant experience. There was liquid feces well above the rim.:jaw:

I'll give it a few more days before I stop the Anabolic Pump. If this continues I won't have any choice but to discontinue use.

That's how it started for the 1st week for me, and everything was cool. Frankly, I feel better when i take more dumps...but not when I'm pissing out my ass 10x a day. Literally saturday night I pissed out of my ass 10 times. Talk about a burn! Whooo.....I counted my pills. I have 10 days of it left (30 pills). After week 2, the pissing out the ass became excessive leading all the way u to what occurred last saturday....my stomach is still recovering.

10 days of AP left if anyone wants to buy it....im not sure anyone would want only 10 days worth...but hell, make an offer and its yours.

If you stop taking AP now and decide to give it another shot in the future, start at around 40 grams of carbs then slowly build up to find which amount of carbs works the best for you.

The 1st time I ever tried it, I got 75 grams of carbs pre-workout and an hour after my post workout dose and meal, I re-enacted the toilet scene in Dumb and Dumber.. :toilet:

After that, I played around with the doses and timing and found the perfect combo and stuck with it, and ever since I've had no problems at all, and now I recommend AP to all my friends and always have a supply in my stash. I would just recommend doing that and giving it a try with the rest of it that you have.

Everyone is different though.. so that may not even work. It's still worth a try I think. Good luck

I am having some issues SOMEtimes with doubling up on Anabolic Pump, but I'm using it with NOW Super Enzymes (1 tab every meal) and it's subsiding. Digestive enzymes should be a staple for everyone, for a lot of the food we eat doesn't get metabolized from our enzymatic capacity alone.

Anabolic Pump Nightmare

I was just about to create a thread about my experience when i stumbled upon this one.

I had been taking AP for 2 weeks with no problems at all. Then.....I started pissing out my ass. I stopped all supps until it got better. Then I started again, but this time around it was stomach pain and irritation with tons of vomitting. I swear I puked like 6 times in a half an hour. I couldn't hold anything down or eat for 2 days....then it got better, but again I stopped taking AP at the first sign of illness. I had only taken one pill. I didn't know it was the AP at this time and thought I had a stomach flu. I took another AP about 3 days after I got better again and it started up again with the whole 2 days of starving and vomitting....not fun. At this point I knoew it was AP and stopped taking it and angrily threw it in the trash.

The whole experience cost me 5lbs and 20lbs+ strength loss on all core lifts. Be careful with this stuff.

Is Pslin the same? I am almost scared to try anything else. It's just not worth it. I have taken every preworkout supp under the sun thus far with no problems, so goes to show you.

The worst for me was when I was at the gym, doing crunches, and I had an anabolic fart that burped a bit of liquid anabolic dump into my shorts.

I called it quits right then.

I have lost 26lbs and gained 10% on my three lifts while using Anabolic-Pump.

Your experience seems extreme to say the least. I really want to see what mullet says about your issue. I have personally yet to hear of this reaction from Anabolic-Pump and i have studied AP quite a bit in the past month.

I understand your disappointment, frustration, and distress, but I am not sure I would go as far as to characterize AP by the bolded statement. Such severe reactions, while present, are not in the majority, or highly probable. Further, given the relatively minute scope of their occurrence - though highly distressful while occurring - AP is in all respects an incredibly safe supplement; in fact, as the above poster alluded to, most gastrointestinal distress can be alleviated with an intuitive approach to CHO intake and probiotic supplementation whilst using AP. With that being said, I understand your desire not to pursue such actions, but would encourage them: Most individuals I have seen who took that approach after initially suffering gastro., distress were quite pleased with the results.

I have reduced my dosage to one pill per day with my largest carb meal in order to further assess tolerance. I will update this board with how this works out.

On a side note, I consider myself to have a very strong stomach. I've never vomited from illness in my life and have never had any problems with other supplements. Hopefully, my body will adjust to AP.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. More like I would consider you extremely unlucky  It made you barf?? That's horrible.

I do remember some pretty intense sh*ts during my first week... but then again I was finishing up my only tub of AnalXplode (NO Xplode) which I already knew would be the result. Man, I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that crap anymore (pun intended).

It took a second bottle to see real noticeable results for me, and now AP is a staple in my diet. I take 3 on workout days (breakfast, pre-workout, post-workout meals) and 2 on nonworkout days (breakfast and dinner).

I hope the lessened dosing helps your body adjust. Good luck!!!

Man, I bet! If I had a similar reaction, I'd stay 10 feet away from the stuff. How long were you taking AP before feeling like that? I remember reading a few posts of yours praising AP a bit, I think. It was way back (like 3-4 months ago) when I was researching the product, but I actually thought you were responding well at one point. I could have misunderstood, as I'm sure you realize your posts are a little difficult to decipher at times :)

No matter how much you try to downplay it,these side effects occur in a lot of AP users as evidenced by the large number of people who posted of similar problems when AP was first released.
Can you cite any medical studies to validate your stance that AP is an incredibly safe supplement?

Really sorry to hear that man... Maybe add some more stuff to help out with that? Enough fibers, bananas, etc?

I know Gut Health could help solve some of that stuff, if you wanted to give it a try maybe it'll work for you as well, it helped me out pretty darn good. I had horrible experience on my first try of powerfull and ap, then i did some stuff, started taking my pills with aloe vera, and now ran ap again just recently and had no problems. Maybe you oughta give that a try.

Also, (props to Distilled Water on this one) maybe try one of the other stuff that has the same properties? Like the ALA/VS-10/Chromium stack to help carbs delivery? I'm starting that in the near future, but maybe you'd react better to that, or P-Slin or something other than ap.

Sorry to hear that you had bad stuff man, hope everything sorts out for you.

Abstract

Background

Recent research has established correlations between stress, anxiety, insomnia and excess body weight and these correlations have significant implications for health. This study measured the effects of a proprietary blend of extracts of Magnolia officinalis and Phellodendron amurense (Relora®) on anxiety, stress and sleep in healthy premenopausal women.

Methods

This randomized, parallel, placebo controlled clinical study was conducted with healthy, overweight (BMI 25 to 34.9), premenopausal female adults, between the ages of 20 and 50 years, who typically eat more in response to stressful situations and scores above the national mean for women on self-reporting anxiety. The intervention was Relora (250 mg capsules) or identical placebo 3 times daily for 6 weeks. Anxiety as measured by the Spielberger STATE-TRAIT questionnaires, salivary amylase and cortisol levels, Likert Scales/Visual Analog Scores for sleep quality and latency, appetite, and clinical markers of safety. The study was conducted by Miami Research Associates, a clinical research organization in Miami, FL.

Results

The intent-to-treat population consisted of 40 subjects with 26 participants completing the study. There were no significant adverse events. Relora was effective, in comparison to placebo, in reducing temporary, transitory anxiety as measured by the Spielberger STATE anxiety questionnaire. It was not effective in reducing long-standing feelings of anxiety or depression as measured using the Spielberger TRAIT questionnaire. Other assessments conducted in this study including salivary cortisol and amylase levels, appetite, body morphology and sleep quality/latency were not significantly changed by Relora in comparison to placebo.

Conclusion

This pilot study indicates that Relora may offer some relief for premenopausal women experiencing mild transitory anxiety. There were no safety concerns or significant adverse events observed in this study.

Phellodendron in the study was standardized to Berberine; corollary to ours.

Received December 29, 2003; Accepted February 18, 2004

ABSTRACT.

In order to investigate the safety of a water extract (ADP) of 1:1 mixture of Anemar-
rhena rhizoma and Phellodendron cortex for alleviating benign prostate hyperplasia, genotoxicity
studies in bacterial and mammalian cell assay systems, namely, the Ames bacterial reverse muta-
tion and chromosomal aberration assays were performed. As shown by the results of the Ames
bacterial reversion assay, ADP in the range of 625~5000µg/plate did not induce mutagenicity in
Salmonella typhimurium TA 98, TA 100, TA 1535 and TA 1537 strains in the absence or in the
presence of S9 (the microsomal fraction of rat liver homogenate) metabolic activation. The IC50 (50%
cell growth inhibition concentration) values of ADP for the chromosomal aberration assay were
determined; these were 2425µg/ml in the absence and 8126µg/ml in the presence of S9 meta-
bolic activation in Chinese hamster lung (CHL) fibroblast cell culture. No chromosomal aberration
was observed in CHL cells treated with ADP at 2425, 1212.5 and 606.25µg/ml in the absence, or
at 8126, 4063 and 2031.5µg/ml in the presence of S9 metabolic activation. These results show that
under the conditions used, ADP does not harmfully affect the bacterial or mammalian cell system at
the gene level.

This was merely data on Phellodendron (both specifically concerned Berberine) but the data on LS (Lagestroemia) is more or less the same. Phellodendron is actually used to treat gastroenteritis, dypheria, and a number of other gastrointestinal impingements. As I said earlier, it is a safe supplement in all respects. I suppose you and I will have to agree to disagree on the frequency of stomach ailment occurrences. In that respect, the data does reflect that those with pre-existing stomach deficiencies may have adverse reactions in the form of diarrhea and/or vomiting due to the anti-bacterial actions of Phellodendron; which, unfortunately for those individuals, go systemic upon oral ingestion.

I've cut back my dosage of AP to 1 pill per day taken with my largest carb meal. The anabolic dumps have gone away but I don't know how effective the supplement will be at this dosage schedule. I haven't noticed any increase hunger that some people have reported. I've been dosing at 1 pill per day for about 1.5 weeks. I may up to 2 pills per day.

Would it be more effective to take it with my pre-workout meal or post workout? I take the first pill at lunch time and train around 5:30 PM.

Definitely take it with your pre-workout meal. Anabolic Pump will help to give you better workouts by giving you more energy endurance and pumps.

Also try upping the dosage to 2 pills per day now and in a week or so, up the dosage to 3 pills per day.

I take my 1st dose at 11:30 AM before my lunch time meal (~ 75 grams of carbs from food). My pre-workout meal is at 4 PM (~30 grams of carbs from food) and then I train at 5:30 PM. Is it recommended to take two doses so close together or will this likely make me hypoglycemic during my training?

This is pretty similar to how i dose my first two APs per day. If you are getting the right amount/type of carbs you will not get the hypo feeling.

Please post any other questions in the USPlabs sub-forum so we can give them more attention...

Good luck achieving your goals!

I too have started getting the Anabolic Dumps after 1 week of use. Yesterday i was on the toilet no less than 9 times, all diahorrea!

I've been twice this morning too (i'm in the UK, so it's 10am here now) and i only got out of bed at 8.30am!

The only things i can allude to it being are:

Taking doses to closely together (My first pill is usually taken with lunch at 12 midday, My pre workout meal is usually at about 4pm, my post workout meal/dinner is usually around 8pm).

I am lactose and hops intolerant, however my lactose intolerance usually gives me real nasty gas along with diahorrea, AP just gives me the later, no gas (yet).

I really want to give this stuff a chance and keep taking it but next Friday I'll be making presentations all day and really REALLY don't want an 'incident'.

I was thinking of buying some Gut Health to try and resolve this problem. could there be any link between the two factors i have listed?

Dosing too close together may be an issue, but most likely not as AP's half-life is relatively long. Attempt to supplement with a probiotic complex such as Gut Health - as you mentioned - and see if that alleviates the issue!

An interesting development is that unlike this morning when i went to the toilet 3-4 times. I've only been once this afternoon. The only difference has been that i've eaten some more fats with my lunch than i normally do. I'll experiment a bit more with this.

I lowered my carbs a little and the AP dosing I am doing is great at 2 caps per day and 1 P-Slin.

1 AP before breakfast

1 P-Slin Post-workout

1 AP before my POST post-workout meal

Do you mean:

1 P-Slin Pre-workout

1 AP before my POST post-workout meal

?

Good call, but I do it post-workout. I take it nearing the end of my workout and 40 minutes later I'll eat 2 bananas, dried fruit, and Oryx Goat Whey.
