[h=3]L-Citrulline[/h]This alpha amino acid is going to be a surprisingly awesome add to your preworkout regiment if you haven’t already tried it. Some of the more popular products have been using it for some time and that’s because it works. What’s it work for? It’s more of a cascade of changes than one direct impact, as is the situation with most ingredients in the complex human physiology. However, it has been studied to an appreciable degree in the field of exercise performance and there’s a lot of supporting evidence. Citrulline at a dose of 3g was found to improve exercise performance in young and healthy men and women (1).L-Citrulline in the form of Citrulline Malate has been shown to indirectly buffer the potential of the pH drop that happens in skeletal muscle during exercise(2). This would explain its anti-fatigue effects during intense training. Extending the pH balance of skeletal muscle during exercise would help maintain cellular integrity under such intense conditions. In one study it significantly increased bench press performance till failure and significantly reduce the post workout exercise soreness commonly referenced as DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)(3.) This makes it an ideal choice for athletes who are working to the extremes of failure during competition and weight lifters whose post leg day muscle soreness can be incredibly debilitating at times.Overall you can see why we wanted to use l-citrulline in Origin. It’s not just going to help you get a solid pump and help you warm up effectively, it’s actually going to improve performance giving you the edge you’re looking for in your pre workout.[h=3]L-Citrulline Overview:[/h]
 • Blunt skeletal muscle pH drop
 • Reduce post workout soreness
 • Increased tolerance to fatigue
[h=3]Trimethylglycine[/h]More simply known as betaine, this ingredient has a lot of potential as an ergogenic aid and you’ll see its presence in pre workouts more and more these days. It wasn’t found in the rain forest, it was actually first discovered in sugar beets. It’s been used in animals for some time now to produce more favorably body composition and enhance the growing process(4).

While the main mode of action remains up for debate there is plenty of evidence accumulating for betaine’s use in the physical culture. It’s been studied in humans quite extensively and carries some awesome benefits for the average athlete. One study observed a significant increase in growth hormone and IGF-1 response to exercise, and a significant decrease in the cortisol response(5). This basically means there is greater potential for muscular hypertrophy and improved recovery from exercise with betaine supplementation.

As cool as that is it has also been shown to enhance squat performance and actually increased the quality of the repetitions performed(6). Enhanced performance is paramount to quality of a pre workout, at least in the eyes of the athlete. Not only will betaine enhance performance but it will help you recover for your next practice out on the track or your next lifting session in the power rack.
[h=3]Trimethylglycine Overview:[/h]
 • Increase GH, IGF-1 response to training
 • Reduce cortisol response to training
 • Improve body composition
 • Improve power output and quality of exercise
[h=3]Rhodiola Rosea[/h]If you’ve yet to hear the term adaptogen, it typically refers to an herb with a wide array of health promoting effects. They help the body cope with various stressors and typically have been used for some time in foreign medicine. Despite having broad applications most adaptogens tend to aid greatly in specific areas and rhodiola’s field of expertise is anti-fatigue(7).

Rhodiola Rosea has been to show stimulate the actions of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin in the central nervous system. These neurotransmitters are responsible for a variety of things such as mood and energy levels. It’s also been shown to increase the ability of dopamine and serotonin precursors to cross the blood brain barrier(7).

Those specific effects should produce higher energy levels, better overall mood, and general sense of wellbeing. These results have actually been demonstrated in a variety of human studies ranging from doctors working the late shifts to high school students(7).

Rhodiola has been demonstrated to enhance exercise performance with acute doses and that consistent daily usage of rhodiola did not reduce the effects it had on exercise performance(8). It’s also been shown to be cardio protective through its neurotransmitter modulating effects and protective from different environmental stressors like extreme cold(15).

Training, or exercise in general, can be particularly fatiguing not just physically but also mentally. It’s important to keep the central nervous system functioning optimally during training for quality performance. Not only during training but also after, many of us can’t afford to be run down for the rest of the day after training.

That’s the primary function of Rhodiola Rosea in Origin, as an aid to help athletes cope with the mentally fatiguing effects of exercise both during and after training.
[h=3]Rhodiola Rosea Overview:[/h]
 • Adaptogen helping the body cope with strenuous exercise
 • Enhance cognitive function
 • Improve mood and energy levels
 • Cardio protective
[h=3]Di-caffeine malate[/h]This relatively new form of caffeine has made its way into the supplement world already and is sold widely in diet pills and colas claiming a few benefits to regular caffeine such as improved digestion. There really isn’t much relevant research in that regard but anecdotal evidence suggests di-caffeine malate is much smoother in comparison to generic caffeine anhydrous.

Origin contains just about as much caffeine as most other preworkouts but due to using dicaffeine malate it should feel much smoother and less jittery for those who are not very tolerant to caffeine. By mass, dicaffeine malate is just under 75% caffeine so the 200mg dose/serving in Origin actually yields about 150mg of pure caffeine per serving.
[h=3]Aside from that di-caffeine malate still has the same awesome studied ergogenic effects regular caffeine has to offer such as:[/h]
 • Improved exercise performance(11,12,13,14)
 • Increased fat loss through accelerated lipolysis(12)
 • Improved recovery from training(9)
 • Blunts the cortisol response to training, increases testosterone levels(10)
 • Improve blood flow and vasodilation during exercise(29)
Caffeine can actually increase the amount of blood flow during exercise as well. I know it’s commonly reported to be a vasoconstrictor but during exercise skeletal muscle regions are less receptive to vasoconstriction due to greatly enhanced blood flow. Caffeine is also a known phosphodiesterase(PDE) inhibitor(29) which has many effects at the cellular level one of which is vasodilation. A better-known PDE inhibitor would be Viagra, which effectively much more potent than caffeine in this regard but the principles are the same(30).Overall, caffeine is likely one of the most underrated ergogenic considering the heaping amounts of supportive evidence and its relative cost to some of the more exotic ingredients out there. When used properly in moderation along with a proper exercise routine and diet it can have profound effects on your progress.[h=3]Theanine[/h]This amino acid is very prominent in most teas and is considered the main pharmacological constituent responsible for the relaxing effect of teas. It does this by adjusting the frequency of certain brain waves, specifically scaling the brain towards the more focus attention derived alpha waves(17,18).What’s so special about alpha waves? Alpha waves are one of the four main brain waves(delta, theta, alpha, beta) and are acutely pronounced during relaxed focus and attention. Unfortunately a majority of us spend a lot of our time in the anxiety prone beta wave zone due to the stresses of daily life. Beta waves aren’t very conducive to solid focus and as an athlete you know focus is incredibly important during competition. Theanine can relax you before the big competition, without putting you to sleep(23), so that your level of focus alone will intimidate the competition.Theanine’s ability to stimulate alpha waves is incredibly helpful in enhancing your workout cognition and many studies have gone to observe these effects alongside caffeine as well. The two play off each other in an incredibly effective synergistic fashion resulting in greatly improved memory, reaction time, and self-reported levels of mental fatigue(16). Theanine effectively blunts the ‘jitters’ many experience from caffeine in larger doses while caffeine brings the overall energy state much higher.Theanine has been studied in rodents using some exercise models to determine if it has anti-depressant qualities. If the animals work longer under stressful conditions but remain relatively similar in normal conditions than its considered to be anti-depressant, caffeine for example would be considered a strong anti-depressant(20). Theanine was found to have significant anti-depressant effects(21) and should result in greatly improved exercise tolerance and reduce the perceived level of fatigue in athletes using it.On top of all that awesome stuff there’s more good news. If you’re a serious athlete and overtraining is more or less just something you do, theanine is going to be amazing for you. It is very common for athletes to feel lethargic and simply mentally drained after a taxing workout and this can be a pain if you’ve got a mentally demanding job. Theanine has been studied in athletes at a dose of only 50mg to greatly accelerate mental recovery after exercise(22). This alongside Rhodiola should greatly attenuate any post exercise mental fatigue, letting you go on with the rest of your daily schedule on time and on point.[h=3]Theanine Overview:[/h]
 • Increase focus and relaxed attention
 • Smooth the energy from caffeine
 • Improve exercise tolerance and resistance to fatigue
 • Accelerate mental recovery from exercise
[h=3]Origin Overview:[/h]Origin will greatly accelerate your training because we made sure to use only the ingredients we would want in our own pre workout and only at doses that work. When you see the effects add up in your own training session we know you’ll have a new favorite pre to cycle in.[h=3]Origin Total Mechanisms of Action:[/h]
 • Increase focus and relaxed attention
 • Improve exercise tolerance and resistance to fatigue
 • Accelerate mental recovery from exercise
 • Improved exercise performance
 • Increased fat loss through accelerated lipolysis
 • Improved recovery from training
 • Adaptogen helping the body cope with strenuous exercise
 • Enhance cognitive function
 • Improve mood and energy levels
 • Cardio protective
 • Increase GH, IGF-1 response to training
 • Reduce cortisol response to training
 • Improve body composition
 • Improve power output and quality of exercise performed
 • Increased blood flow leading to stronger pumps
 • Increased ammonia clearance from skeletal muscle
 • Reduces DOMS(Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)
 • TAAR-1 agonist, enhanced vigilance
[h=3]Origin FAQ:[/h][h=3]When is the best time to take Origin?[/h]We suggest 30-45 minutes before training for optimal dosing time but we also recommend trying your own dosing times and seeing what works best for you.[h=3]Can I stack Protocol Advanced and Origin?[/h]Certainly, combining the two would have profound results on your training performance.[h=3]Is it best for weight training or can I take it for cardio?[/h]Origin is built to enhance your performance regardless of whether it’s a laps in the pool or reps in the weight room.

I received my package today but couldn't get to the gym due to a spider bite right over my sciatic nerve. I'll be stabbing this soon it hurts too much haha. That being said, I couldn't help but try it out, and all I can say is the taste is PHENOMENAL.

bush-om-nom-nom-2jc6.jpg

As for focus, I got a but of work done, very clear mentally. We shall see how I perform in the gym!

Day 1: My first day with Origin was a sleep deprived one, but let me say it was a great one. I consumed two scoops in ~16oz of water, first off the flavor is amazing, if it wouldn't kill me I'd drink it all day. When I hit the gym I was a bit groggy, but surprisingly I had more mental focus than I usually do on my sleep deprived days (insomnia).

Workout:

Seated cable rows.
185x15
285x 6
225x15
185x Burnout

Kroc Rows
100lbx12 reps for 4 sets

T bar
- 90lbs x 15 (making sure to flex the lat)

Seated DB Military press
-65lbs x 25
-85lbs x 15
-85lbs x 15

I then moved on to preacher curls, kelso shrugs etc just side work

Currently putting this log on hold due to unforeseen health complications, to be continued in a week.

I'm still recovering right now, but my inguinal lymph node has finally shrunken and my leg no longer hurts to the touch. Sooooo I'll be wrapping up and hitting the gym tonight! If I die, it wasn't the Origin haha.

edit:

1356667653323.jpg

My Origin stash with my ciprofloxacin! haha

So I got a pretty good lift in, considering that I feel a bit funny still.

I took one scoop of Origin and then put half of a scoop in my shaker to sip during my workout. Lift was GREAT. My gym was freezing balls so it took me a while to warm up.

Back day:

Seated cable rows:
3 sets of- 225x 15

Seated hammer rows:
135 each hand x 15 reps for 4 sets

Krok rows
110lbs for 10 reps, 4 sets.

My adapted stable lat rows:
1 set, 120lbs x 15
1 set, 140lb x 15
1 set, 150 lb x 10

Kelso Shrugs:
8 sets with the bar

Deadlifts:
4 sets with 225 till failure, super set with tbar rows.

Then I moved on to a bit of bicep and shoulder work. I did notice that on preachers I was A LOT stronger. My first set I did 90lbs for 15 reps easy, so I thought I would turn it up a notch. 135 for 8 reps, didn't feel sore, felt great.

1. 135 pounds on Preacher Curl is insane.
2. I HATE when the gym is cold. My gym has a few locations and one is like a sauna (which I kinda like - very easy to warm up) while another has a fan that's nearly always on and is directly over the incline bench. I can warm up on flat and then instantly freeze on incline. It sucks.

Thanks boss, I'll be tossing up lift videos as soon as I can get a good spot to record from.I can't stand a cold gym, I don't adjust well. I swear they turn on the AC at night. I'm like you, I'd rather workout in a sauna then a freezer haha.

Day 2:T his was another split day, really just getting back into it.Warmed up with stationary bike for 15 minutes to get some blood flow going.

Then moved over to quad extensions:

*1 set: 100lb each leg x 25 pause reps
*4 sets: 250lbs both legs x 25 pause reps

Hamstring Curls
:
*4 sets of 100lb x 50 reps

Then made the hike downstairs into the free weight dungeon for some good ol' deadlifts! No straps or belt!

*3 sets : 225lbs x 25 reps
*2 sets : 315lbs x 10 reps

Transitioned to bent over rows for some nice tightening up

*3 sets : 185x failure

Then rear delt flys, kept it pretty light,

3 sets of 50lbs x 12 reps

Still felt FRESH, but my joints have been killing me (antibiotics) so I just finished up with cardio. Stationary bike for 30 min at 75% intensity.

Day 3: New Years Eve!

Damn gym closed early so I had to do cables at home. Kept it pretty simple

Super set of cable flys, lat rows and bicep curls. 5 sets of 50 reps each movement. The burn was intense, I love Origin haha.
So far the energy has been great, the workouts have been awesome, and the focus has been just right. Actually have used a few scoops before doing some research.

Day 4: First day of the year!

WELL joke was on me, I took two scoops of origin and walked over to my gym to only see that it was closed haha.

Sooo I came back home and worked on my roommates Core Body Performer:

Don't judge me! Haha this thing is actually pretty damn intense due to it being very unstable.

Did core work with pistol squats and speed drills. Pretty awesome workout.
That being said the theanine is kinda starting to give me a headache post workout. I'll be lowering my dose.

I did I did! haha. Drank my origin and got my boxing in, 20 minute warmup shadowboxing with 2lb weights and then 12 rounds of work. Kept it a bit light since my gym is rustic, no heater and the door is always open.

Got home, ate a burrito and went to lift. Lift was a complete fail, damn near everything was burned out. BUUUT there is no quitting when it comes to the fight life.

Warm up: 135 squats (learning a new technique used by Mike O'hearn)
5 sets till failure, same weight

Then moved over to kneeling front raises with rotation, on a bench.
35lbs x 20 reps for 4 sets
Superset with stiff leg deads
135x failure

Then moved on to quad extensions:
100lb each leg x 15
250lb both leg x 20
300lb both leg x 25

Then just wrapped up with 15 min on the stair climber and 25 on the stationary bike.

Edit: Would also like to add that I'm a bit more vascular.

Today was day 6: Well technically it's day 6 on origin before a workout, I like the calming yet driven effect before work.

Recently added in Testabolan V2 but nothing to note as of yet, everything so far has been 100% Origin.

I went row crazy! :fing26:I felt like a beast, endurance is definitely there with origin.

Krock Rows:
110lbs x 12
110lb x 12
110lbs x 12
110lbs x8

Bent over rows *making sure to keep a 120* bend *
135lbs x 15
225lbs x 10
225lbs x 12
225lbs x 15

Seated rows: reverse pyramid

275lbs x 8
250lbs x 12
225lbs x 15
90 second rest
225lbs x failure

Squat position rope pulls, each hand:
180lbs x 8
150lbs x 10
120lbs x 15
120lbs x 12

Then seated lat rows (hammer machine)
90lbs x failure
90lbs x failure
90lbs x failure

T-bar rows:
90lbs + whatever the bar counts for, x 20 reps for 3 sets
Then single handed for 2 sets till failure just to max out the lower lats.

Seated lat pull downs with neutral grip: Making sure to pinch the lower portion of my lats

120lbs x 12
120lbs x 12
120lbs x 12
120lbs x failure

Then I moved over to some aux work, hammer curls, kelso shrugs, preacher curls, nothing too interesting.

Today was day 7:Was pretty stressed out today, so I made sure to hit the gym hard even with an injured shoulder.

Took one scoop of Origin (cutting back a bit since I take it so often)

Incline press:
135lbs x 15
205lbs x 15
225lbs x 10

Felt really easy but I didn't want to push my shoulder.

Incline dumbbell presses:

90lbs x 15
90lbs x 10
90lbs x 8

Neutral grip incline presses:
50lbs x 20
50lbs x 20
50lbs x 20
50lbs x 15

Pull overs emphasizing the pectoral: Taken from Kai Greene
50lbs x 15
50lbs x 15
50lbs x 15
50lbs x 15

Low cable flys:
70lbs x 10
70lbs x 10
70lbs x 10

Dip machine:
180 x 12
180 x 12
180 x 10

Pec dec: Focusing on the eccentric movement

180lbs x 15
180lbs x 15
140lbs x 20

Then wrapped it up with quad extensions and the 15 minutes on the stationary bike, then 10 minutes of shadowboxing with 2lb weights.

Origin is definitely helping with the indurance, I tend to get mentally fatigued after a while with stims

I hate sitting at home while sick so I covered up and hit the gym for a leg day yesterday.

Workout was okay, have the flu so it was a bit hard to hit it 100%.

Notable lifts were 275x3 front squat ATG

From there I went into rack pulls
225x20
315x15
405x10
495x3
565x1

Pretty good focus, didn't even notice the resolutioners...although I did see one guy doing...something with the cables. Not quite sure what but he was moving the weight about an inch each rep

Nice high rep bench w. 225. The most I ever got was 23 reps but I had proposed a challenge to a friend and spent almost 2 months training for endurance. These were not perfect reps either. I was hitting 315 x 3-5 (usually closer to 3) when I started doing that. After training for endurance I had a lot of trouble with 315x1 and could only get it on "good days"

Now I usually hit 225 as a burn out on my last set getting 12-15 reps or sometimes 8-10 depending on how much energy I had left.

I know what you mean, I was pressing a lot more before a pec tear last year.

Update: Yesterday I took the day off and hit the snow with some buddies, great day.

I got home, and missed my leg day though so today the 16th was my leg day. I didn't put up the weight I'd like to have, but my legs got the work they needed.

Used 3 scoops of origin today, two pre worout and one intra-since I planned on staying a while.

COULDN'T GET VIDEO IN, MY PHONE HAD DIED :(

Front squat:

Warmed up with the bar ATG.

135lbs X 20
205lbs x 15
225lbs x 10
255lbs x 8

Squats:

255lbs x 5
225lbs x 10
225lbs x 10
135lbs x failure

Hamstring curls:
90lbs x 15
90lbs x 10
90lbs x 10
90lbs x 12

Stationary bike for a quick 5 minutes to get some cramps out, had tweaked my back on front squats.

Deficit deadlifts:

135lbs x 15
225lbs x 10
315lbs x 12
Stopped here due to back

Squat position single hand cable rows:

120lbs x 12 each hand
160lbs x 12 each hand
180lbs x 8 each hand
120lbs x 15 each hand

Quad extensions :
120lbs x 12 each leg
120lbs x 12 each leg
90lbs x 10 each leg
90lbs x 10 each leg

Single leg, leg press:

120lbs x 15
120lbs x 15
120lbs x 15
120lbs x 10

Legs were shaking at this point so I moved on to squats in the smith machine, just trying to get a great stretch in.
I pause at he bottom making sure I have a full 100% range of motion.
135x12 + super set with calve raises till failure
135x12 + SS
135x12 + SS
135x12 + SS

Wrapped it up with about 3 minutes on the stationary again to get blood flow for recovery.

Everyone is getting sick, it sucks. If you're into herbal remedies. Oregano oil and grapefruit seed extract are great at knocking out viruses. Get well.

Thanks benzo! Ill try and toss up some today with a video. It's upperback/shoulder day for me.

I used to joke that I was training for the combine. All I was missing was an insane amount of natural talent for high level football.

Yesterday

"Today was a back day, still a bit sore from yesterday having tweaked it on squats. Wasn't really feeling "on" today but still got a great pump in.

Couldn't get a video in, can't seem to find anywhere to stand my damn phone up without it falling off every other minute.

Took my 2 scoops of Origin, and some slinsane V2 with a 25g carb shake. Man my arms GREW.

Seated rows:

250lbs x 12
250lbs x 12
300lbs x 2 (hooks)
180lbs x failure

Bent over barbell rows :
135lbs x 15 -SS with 120lb dumbbell krok row
135lbs x 15 -SS
225lbs x 12 -SS
275lbs x 3

Seated hammer machine:

90lbs x 15
90lbs x 15
135lbs x 10
135lbs x 8

Tbar rows:
90lbs x failure
135lbs x failure
135lbs x failure

Neutral grip lat pulldown:
130lbs x 12
150lbs x 10
150lbs x 8
120lbs x 12

Then moved on to high pulling, no real weight just getting the pump to my upper back/shoulders.
I have a bit of a bad mind muscle connection to this zone so I never actually put any weight up, just try to get the movement in. I use deadlifts for trap thickness.

Also worked biceps and the such, overall not a bad workout. "
