Welcome ladies and gentlemen to my last and final phase of my cut! This phase began on June 30th and will conclude on August 27th, a mere day before my wedding! I hope that most of you who are reading this have been followers ever since Phase 1, but for those of you who are newcomers I welcome you! Please feel free to ask questions, give encouragement, support, tips, even the occasional poking fun of is allowed ;)! I'm here to have fun with all of this and make it the most informative thread I can! So if I'm leaving anything out or you are scratching your head about something, PLEASE, don't be stranger!

MY INFO

Height: 6'9"

Weight: 227lbs (as of June 28th... I haven't had a chance yet to reweigh myself)

Diet: IF/LeanGains. Typical meal windows begin anywhere from 2-5pm and end around 10PM-2AM depending on when I start. Otherwise I'm fasting the majority of the time and either drinking water or taking in BCAAs. Since I am on a cut diet my calories are below maintenance at 3000. Macros shift accordingly day to day but stay the same for the most part because my mealplan rarely fluctuates. I actually hope to account for more of this in Phase 3 with pictures and stat-tracking via MyFitnessPal. Some days are easier than others to stick with the diet but I eat clean 99% of the time.

The Supplement Spotlight

Let's talk about Genomyx's Alphaburn!

alphaburn2_large.jpeg

Taken from Nutraplanet: AlphaBurn contains the steroisomer Rauwolscine, a highly selective Alpha-2 Adrenergic agonist. AlphaBurn amplifies and prolongs Lipolysis, demolishes appetite, increases focus and motivation, and stimulates libido by acting on dopaminergic neurons in the brain.

Product Highlights:

Alphaburn stacks well with just about any product.
Simple yet effective ingredients
Non Stimulant: increases focus and motivation while stimulating libido by acting on dopaminergic neurons in the brain.
AlphaBurn, unlike Yohimbine, does not increase heart-rate or anxiety.
AlphaBurn also contains Piperine, a black pepper extract shown to prevent the breakdown of monoamines.

And how about Reduce XT?

sns-reduce-xt-90-caps-4012-p.jpg

From Nutraplanet:

Reduce XT is an advanced cortisol control agent that can be integrated into fat loss, lean muscle building, and/or post cycle therapy (PCT) regimens.

Summary of Typical Results with Reduce XT:

Increased Fat Loss*
Increased Lean Muscle & Strength gains*
Lean Muscle Retention while dieting*
Lean Muscle Retention during PCT (Post Cycle Therapy)*
Cortisol & Its Effects on Body-Composition – Further Elaboration:
Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands, and is considered to be a stress hormone. When the body is under stress (either physical or psychological), it produces excess cortisol to try to help combat the stress. The body’s way of helping to combat the stressors is by liberating energy stores. Cortisol assists in that process by breaking down muscle protein into amino acids and stored fat into fatty acids as fuel sources for the body. This process is detrimental to overall body composition because it translates into increased fat storage and decreased lean muscle tissue.

Cortisol’s Detrimental Effect on Lean Muscle:
Cortisol breaks down muscle protein into amino acids for use as a fuel source – in laymen’s terms this means that cortisol breaks down your muscle tissue. By helping suppress cortisol levels, it is likely that one can keep more of their hard earned gains.

Cortisol’s Effect on Fat Storage:
Cortisol assists in breaking down stored body-fat into fatty acids so that the body can have an immediate energy source to help combat the stressors. This at first sounds like a good thing, but the long term effect of this action is these fatty acids being stored as the most easily accessible type of body-fat for the same future use, visceral fat. Visceral fat is the type of fat that is located around the internal organs; it is also the type of fat most closely associated with a variety of health conditions including heart disease. Also, by altering fat distribution from subcutaneous fat to more cortisol sensitive areas, physical appearance can be detrimentally affected. For example, cortisol sensitive areas include the abdominal ‘pot belly’ appearance, excess facial fat storage, etc.

It is important to note that while cortisol has negative effects on overall body-composition, it is not entirely negative as it does have useful applications in the body. That is why it is important to look at cortisol in terms of controlling it, rather than eliminating it.

When Can Reduce XT be used?
Cutting/Fat Loss Cycles:
Reduce XT can be used during periods of cutting and fat loss cycles for the purpose of helping promote fat loss, as well as for helping retain and build lean muscle.

Post Cycle Therapy (PCT):
Reduce XT can be stacked with Liver Assist XT and Inhibit-E for a more complete, comprehensive Post Cycle Therapy regimen. Due to Reduce XT being anti-catabolic, it is very important during this time period for helping maintain gains from your cycle, as well as helping to continue to build lean muscle.

Lean Bulking & Recomposition Cycles:
The same reasons that make Reduce XT desirable during cutting and fat loss cycles make it very appealing during lean bulking and recomposition cycles as well.

Bulking Cycles:
Reduce XT can be used during bulking cycles to help maximize lean muscle and strength gains.

Stacking & Synergy:
Reduce XT is a very versatile product and can be stacked with a variety of other Serious Nutrition Solutions products for increased synergistic results. For fat loss and recomposition cycles, Reduce XT can be stacked with TTA-500, RK-500 Xtreme or RK-125, and/or SYN-30. For lean bulking, recomposition, and bulking cycles, Reduce XT Can be stacked with Magnesium Creatine Chelate caps, Beta Alanine caps, Inhibit-E, RK-500 Xtreme, or other select Serious Nutrition Solutions products. Also, as part of a comprehensive Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) regimen, Reduce XT can be stacked with Inhibit-E and Liver Assist XT.

Something to think about:
Building lean muscle and losing fat are achieved through hard work in both diet and exercise, but your body’s response mechanism for putting it through this hard work is not what many people realize it to be. The body inadvertently works against you and sabotages you from being able to obtain the maximum benefit from all of your hard work. You work hard through diet and exercise to build lean muscle, but your body releases a hormone to break it down in response to your hard work. You eat right and/or train properly while trying to lose fat, but your body releases a hormone that can cause you to store fat in response to your hard work. It is almost like running in place in terms of reaching your body composition goals; you try really hard, but you just don’t get anywhere.

This is where Reduce XT comes into play. By helping control cortisol levels, Reduce XT may help allow individuals to maximize their results from their diet and exercise routines.

Dosages

Alphaburn will be taken 1x AM and 1x PM. I have the ability to scale up those dosages to 2x AM and 2x PM and I may do that about halfway through. I want to see how I react to it first. Reduce XT dosage will be 1x AM, 1x preworkout, and 1x 4 hours after the preworkout, otherwise if it is a non-workout day I will just spread them about 4 hours apart based on the time I take the first one when I wake up.

All dosages for everything else will be described at some point. If you have any questions about any of them feel free to ask.

Let's get this started, shall we?

Kind of a crummy day in the gym. It closed at 8PM and I was rushed and only had an hour to get a workout in. I had also done HIIT in the morning so a lot of my energy was invested in that. I hadn't timed my meals well either. It was a so-so day for me.

Haha watch the kCals and macros buddy, being on LeanGains is not an automatic ticket to NOT be mindful of the diet, weather cut or bulk :p! Good stuff you train with the future Mrs.Pole (Wasp) and she should get the hell in here...AM needs a Wasp :p!

JULY 3rd: LEGS

Today was just the most god awful ridiculous day in lifting. My legs are easily the weakest part of my body and need the most work. They are not keeping up with the gains I'm making everywhere else and I think its time to reformulate a leg plan to get more gains. The only problem I'm really having is with basic squats. Everything else is doing just fine. Todays terrible numbers in squats are attributed to 3 things (in my opinion). First, I only got a few hours of sleep and the quality of that sleep was very poor. Second, my body is still adjusting to the LeanGains diet. I feel as though I usually do better when I've eaten a meal prior to working out. I know that this can be built into the diet to accomodate for my schedule, but on a day like today when I don't work tonight/didn't work last night I should not have to use this as an excuse. And last, the previous day I did a cycling class with my fiance and my legs still hadn't recovered. I usually like to save legs for after at least one day of rest prior to doing them. I was not there mentally, didn't feel any energy even with the preworkout (felt like I even wasted my time drinking it), and after the first set of squats I figured it was deload day since the weight felt SO HEAVY. I am ashamed to even post todays results lol.

LEG EXTENSION WARMUP: 105x16,12

SQUATS: 135x10 165x8 185x3 135x10

LEG PRESS: 225x20 315x15,15,15 PR for reps

SEATED CALF RAISE: 160x20,20,20

HAMSTRING CURLS: 150x12,12

Weight: 226.5lbs

Walked out feeling ****ty although my legs felt pretty swollen. Definitely had a good time on the leg press. I feel as though I need to return to high reps/lower weight when it comes to squatting. I need to go back down to 135 and go for 15+ reps for at least 3 sets and continue moving from there. I was doing this at first, then changed my mentality to a powerlifter and tried to see what my PR was for one rep (which I still don't actually know). Hopefully I can work on this as time goes on.

JULY 4th: SHOULDERS

One of my favorite lifting days for sure. Shoulders are always a good time :) Can't use that "Well the LeanGains diet didn't allow me to eat so my energy was down blah blah blah" because I did pretty darn good! Had to skip the barbell shoulder press because they were all used and I only had 45mins to workout with anyway!

Weight: 226.5lbs

SEATED DB SHOULDER PRESS: 35x15 60x12,10,10 40x8

SHRUGS: (DBs, each hand) 110x12,12,12 110lbs in each hand, not 110 total ;)

STRAIGHT ARM RAISE: 30x12,12

LATERAL RAISE: 25x8,8 it was at this point I could feel my shoulders starting to give out due to exhaustion :D

PULLEY DELT RAISE: 20x10,8

REAR DELT FLYS: 10x12,10,8 MACHINE 120x12,12 75neg x 6,6

UPRIGHT ROWS: 70x12,12

Walked out feeling rock solid. And now I'm stuck working on the 4th :(

Hey man thanks for the encouragement. I just know I've put up better numbers with better reps than that day. The rest of the day turned out great though. Got myself a massage, had a good date night (I forgot to take my GQ picture though I was wearing a tshirt for the massage with the intention of putting a button down on after but the fiance told me to just keep the tshirt on because the fancy restaurant we wanted to go to was ****ing closed for repairs! NOOOOOO!!! Saved me from a lot of carbs though they have some cheesy garlic bread that is to die for!!!), relaxed at home with some bourbon and coke zero and just spent some quality time with the lady doing nothing but laying around. It was great. I always have a bad mentality about leg days. I hate doing them because it hurts so bad but I know it needs to be done.

I think I just might shoot you a PM about mealplan stuff. I could always change things up. I'll hit you up soon.

Appreciate the following! Haha yea those supp companies are in love with me for sure... but pretty soon they are going to hate me. Once I get back from the honeymoon I plan on taking a stim break and dropping a lot of the stuff for a month or so and keep only the essentials: creatine, protein, multi.

She's not too keen with the whole supplement thing. Thinks its completely ridiculous the amount of pills/powders I take. So I try to keep that on the low end. She enjoys working out together, just not my passion (she calls it obsession) with supplements. I always try to hide the packages when I get new stuff lol. She's ok w/ multi + protein. Everything else is "just unnatural."

Meh.

JULY 5th: HIIT

I goofed and forgot to look down at the treadmill after I was done so I'm not sure how far I went/burned but from what I remember I only did 6 cycles of sprint/run instead of 10 like I wanted. With all the heat outside, even being in an AC'd gym, it was still very stifling which made it hard for me to breathe. I was actually having trouble catching my breath and that usually doesn't happen unless I run outside. Ran for 2.5 miles in 25 minutes and burned around 350 calories. I was sweating the whole damn time. More than I've ever seen myself sweat. I blame Celorza for this. I took my EC+Alphaburn(x2)+Reduce about 30 minutes prior (swallowed it down with some nasty BCAAs lol) and beads of sweat took their turns falling from each of my eyelashes about every second. The treadmill belt was covered in nasty DNA removal. It was SICK but I love that feeling!

With the help of Celorza, I am tweaking my LG diet slightly to help me shed these last 5lbs within the last 3 weeks which I know is totally doable and definitely up to me. I can do it!!!!

Tomorrow is Back/Bi day. Hoping for epicness.

Hmm... so this video log will actually be following a workout! Thats motivation in of itself!

I would like to attempt a PR of 315x12... or perhaps go after fumoney's request. Maybe 325x8 and 365x3-5?

We'll see how I feel when I get there tomorrow. I'm already excited thinking about it.

Same here , my favorite lift , and recently I earned some love for my Power Cleans hahaha I usually don't report them in my workouts since the numbers are still low and they are kinda 3-5 impromptu sets , and damn Antman I wish I could do only 315x1 , you are one mighty beast! KILL IT BRO!

Things will be killed for sure tomorrow. I just hope this fast doesn't zap my energy ;)! I'm gonna sleep good and be nice n' ready to lift heavy things. My powerlifting coach back in the day always said that tall guys were always great deadlifters because we have longer tendons and ligaments that help support us much better. He compared it to a construction crane. I didn't believe him at first. Then again I never thought I'd PR 440 either when I lifted with him :D!

And BTW Cel, I brought 30g of those BCAAs to drink after the fast begins. ****ing nasty **** man. *shivers*

Alright then. Actually not a bad idea. The typical big 3. Cleans I have not done in quite some time... but not a bad idea to showcase what I look like and what my form looks like. Maybe you guys can even point some things out for me that I'm not doing quite right ;) So I guess for the next week of workouts look for a little video about the major compound lifts then!!!

Nice idea Ben!

The fast has begun. I plan on working out around 4PM EST and I definitely love getting me some Friday gym time because not a whole lot of people go to workout on Fridays so the gym is usually pretty cleared out and its how I prefer it.

I'll also be updating with some thoughts on the current supplements (mainly ALPHABURN), some insight into my meals (with big help from Celorza), along with the video(s).

Stay tuned!
