  1. SOUTHPAW PREPARES TO GET L.I.T UP (Sponsored)

Firstly, I'd like to thank the guys over at Applied Nutraceuticals for allowing me the opportunity to test run their new preworkout formula L.I.T UP. Here's the skinny on the product:

    LIT-UP™
    Light the Fuse™ with LIT-UP™!

Sure there are a boatload of pre-workout products out there that promise to get you all jacked up. All of them share pretty much the same theme: Intense energy, vasodilation, pump and short-lived increases in strength. Most draw from the same pool of ingredients and lack any actual lasting anabolic effects. The result? They crank you all up only to let you down and leave you right back where they started a few hours earlier – except now you’re 1) strung out from being over-stimulated; 2) hungry because you can’t eat, and 3) in a catabolic state because you lack the necessary elements for recovery and growth.

That sucks, huh? All that work for nothing?

Don’t stress - check this out: What if your pre-workout drink could still deliver the perfect amount of energy, focus, pump, etc….but without the strung-out feeling and the loss of appetite for hours and hours after your workout? Then to take it further, what if it contained clinical doses of ingredients that are PROVEN to increase testosterone and build muscle? On top of it all, what if it was so effective at increasing strength IMMEDIATELY that you’ll hit a new PR the very first time you use it? That’s what we’re talking about here…

Lit-Up™ represents the future of pre-workout supplementation because it does so much more than all the others. It triggers dramatic increases in testosterone levels, greater neuromuscular strength, mind-muscle connection enhancement and increased libido; all of which lead to improved well-being and lasting muscular growth. Lit-Up™ focuses on yielding cumulative results, which is very different from any product in the current pre-workout product segment - in that it does not solely rely on powerful and often dangerous stimulants to deliver better workouts.

HERE ARE THE PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS IN A NUTSHELL:

    * Precision energy delivery for greater neuromuscular strength, muscular endurance and increased focus; no mind-bending over-stimulation that leaves your stomach in knots!
    * Strong mood-enhancing effect
    * Positive effects on libido and sexual drive
    * Exerts positive effects on joint health
    * Dramatically increases testosterone to foster an environment favorable for substantial, long-term increases in lean body mass and fat reduction.

How Lit-Up™ Differs From Other Pre-Workout Products

    * No Harsh Stimulants: Most of the popular products contain the stimulant 1,3 dimethylpentylamine*. Some shady companies try to hide it by calling it Geranium Oil or Geranium Stem, but in the end it’s all the same synthetic stimulant. The over-utilization of this and other chemical stimulants can negate any growth potential brought on from a workout due to appetite suppression during the post-workout nutrient re-uptake window; plus they also often cause the user to “burn out” too quickly during a workout even though they’re still “wired”. This is a situation in which a large amount of energy is utilized during the first 20-30 minutes of a workout, leaving the user tired and lethargic for the rest of the training session. This lack of productivity can de-rail even the best training programs, and ultimately de-motivate even the most hardcore trainers.
    * NO/H²S Pathway: Lit-Up™ takes the latest scientific research available to a whole new level by utilizing the synergism of the Hydrogen Sulfide (H²S) Nitric Oxide (NO) pathways: allowing for a huge increase in nutrient flow to target muscle tissue. The product also uses a unique nootropic/stimulant blend that allows for more targeted enhancement of the mind-muscle connection and greater neuromuscular strength.
    * Precise Energy Timing: Ever finish up your workout with your stomach in knots; unable to eat because your pre-workout product has you so cranked up? Then by the time you settle down, you’ve missed the most important nutrient window of the day. LIT-Up™ has a potent, natural stimulant profile that delivers crisp clean focus and energy when you need it - but doesn’t over saturate adrenal glands or shut down hunger.
    * RESULTS!: Research involving blood testing of free and serum testosterone levels in humans indicates heightened levels of testosterone within 6 days of the first dosage, with increases occurring up to 2 weeks before stabilizing at elevated levels. NO OTHER PRE-WORKOUT GIVES YOU ALL THIS!

Here’s the bottom line. You can train like you’re on crack and get nowhere, or you can train hard, train smart and grow like a weed. Umm…

    Directions:

Shake vigorously before opening to distribute the contents evenly. Stir 1-2 scoops with 8 ounces of water per scoop, and consume 30 minutes before beginning workout. Always start with the lowest recommended dose and work increase one scoop at a time until desired effect is reached.

*also known as 1,3-dimethylamylamine; methylhexaneamine; dimethylpentylamine; 4-methylhexan-2-amine; 4-methyl-2-hexylamine; 4-methyl-2-hexanamine; 2-amino-4-methylhexane; Geranium Oil; Geranium Oil Extract; Geranium Root Extract; Constituent of Geranalean; Geranium [Stem]; Geranamine®, Forthan, Forthane, and Floradrene).

I received the tub last night. I took 2 scoops before my back/bicep workout. Here is my initial review, keep in mind I expect the results to change/progress with time as DAA is a core ingredient in this product, that should with time allow for better strength gains in the gym.

Energy/Stim: 7/10 - Definitely not the strongest in terms of stim strength; however, that's not to say it isn't strong, just in a different way. I felt very focused and aggressive for the first hour.

Focus: 10/10 - I definitely felt dialed in the entire time.

Obviously as this log progresses I can and will detail other aspects that the product offers.

  5. Running a 5k obstacle course on Saturday called warrior dash. Think this would be a good product to take prior to the event?

I was thinking of faking an injury and staying in the hotel room and watching porn through the scrambles.

  6. definitely - one of the appealing things IMO about LITup is that because it isn't super stim, or loaded with creatine so its ideal for what some might call 'irregular' training conditions

I took your advice and it definitely paid off. The 5k called warrior dash, was a lot of fun and much easier than I anticipated. I've been training hard in terms of conditioning the past few months and it really paid off. As I stated before when I began this log, my workouts are far from traditional and may not always encompass traditional bodybuilding routines. I felt the energy from L.I.T UP and it was focused, it didn't create that nervy type of feeling some other products give you. Tomorrow I'll be working chest/triceps with the help of LIT UP, the review will be up after I'm done!

  10. I pulled an audible and decided to work legs instead of chest/triceps. I performed the following routine:

4 sets of lunges across gym floor X 35lbs in the 12-15 rep range
Squats utilizing stability ball/dumbbells against wall at 4 sets in the 12-15 rep range
Leg Extensions at 4 sets in the 12-15 rep range
Lying leg curls at 4 sets in the 12-15 rep range.

    Abs

5 sets of 20 standard crunches
hanging leg lifts for 5 sets of 20
Obliques at 5 sets (20 reps) using rope

Post workout: sprints on basketball court

Energy: 7/10 The energy is present just not as strong as I'm normally use to. It's a different type of focus/energy.

Aggression: 10/10 This products for some reason has me agitated/moody. I imagine it's the DAA. Not a bad thing as I take it out in the gym, just something I've noticed so far using this product. I'm very competitive so this product definitely puts me in the right of frame of mind to go after it.

    Tonight is chest/triceps.

Hook as always thanks for the support. I agree with you, the type of focused aggression that LIT UP provides is a great weapon to have in the gym.

Very nice. It's a different type of PWO than I'm use to. The stims aren't as strong I'm accustom to (stim junkie admittedly and proudly lol), but the focus is a solid 10/10, which really overcompensates in that one area. I love the focus that this product provides. I took it prior to a basketball game and it was awesome to say the least.

Besides the band squats, step-ups, and ab circuit, I'm not familiar with the other exercises. Can you give me a quick rundown about them?

  25. PLATE LUNGE MATRIX - I use a 35lb/45lb plate and hold it out directly in front of me and lunge forward to a certain destination. Then come back to the starting point-- stepping backwards.

ALT Pro's - more of a conditioning tool, between each set of step ups. I get into a soft push-up type stance and slide my feet back and forth for a period of a minute. Then back to step ups.

PUSH-UP HIP FLEXION/EXTENSIONS (my trainer***track coach comes up with the routines, a lot of times I have no idea what he's making me do)- I take 4 dumbbells and place them on the floor, get into a push-up position on top of the db's. I perform a push-up then bring my knee in across my chest and then kick all of the way out while slightly twisting my body to a certain side. I alternate both legs during this routine.

Yea i'm a stim guy myself, so this will be interesting. I've been taking animal pump for quite a while and other varios NO supps, so i'm looking forward to the comparo. Focus is huge, i'm glad that delivers. Pumps are my sought after part of a PWO tho.

To be completely honest with you, I think he makes this stuff up in his head, tries them out himself and then has me do them. But his programs work. Great conditioning workouts. I told him prior to training with him, that knowing myself I'll get bored doing anything traditional. He told me not to worry and after he trained me the first time, I threw up 3-4 times in an hour and it's been on ever since lol.

He seems to know what he's doing, as he coaches track and football, so his workouts while difficult are also fun, which for me is important. Here is today's run down. Shoulders/Legs (working legs twice a week. One day explosive conditioning/the other day heavy).

    Overhead press 3x12/8/4 75/80/95lb
    Dual db pullover 3x15/10/8 25lb
    Stiff leg dl 3x15 140lb

Iso lat db raises 4x12/10/8/8 15lb
    Seated lat pd 4x15/6/12/12 90/112/75/75lb
    Prone leg curl 4x15 55lb

Alt db overhead press 4x10/8/5/5 30lb
Iso kneeling lat pull 4x15/12/10/10 80lb
Single leg squat 4x8 body weight

Cardio 20 minute warm-up hitting mitts. LIT-UP is perfect for sporting events, whether it be boxing, basketball, or training for my upcoming 8k race. The focus is definitely there, and I'd rank it right up there among the best PWO.

    Energy 8/10
    Focus 10/10
    Pump 7/10
