Maximizing my Training Cycle: UHCougar05's Maximize V2 Log
Been a long time since I've posted over here (many, many moons). But I'm logging a bottle of Maximize V2 that iForce Dave was nice enough to send me. I'm currently 13 weeks away from the 2010 Texas Strongest Man and will be training for that. Here are the events:
Max Axle (PR: 255)
Farmers for Distance (PR: 270 for 60')
Yoke (PR: 750 for 49')

Looking good! Glad david gave you the opportunity to try this leading up to your comp to help you out and achieve your goals!
Although a bodybuilder myself and powerlifting being on the other side of the fence from me, I am looking forward to following this because I know the hard work that you guys most put in!

Heavier Stone to Lap, had trouble loading. I just need to get stronger.
Tried 1.5 scoops today. The focus was a little better, but the intensity and recovery between sets was similar to 1 scoop, so I'll stay at one scoop for the duration.

I think I'll dial it back down to half a scoop for Cardio.
I'm also down to 252. One thing I've noticed from taking the Maximize in the morning is an appetite suppressing effect which is a nice perk since I'm trying to lose a bit of fat before my contest.

Looking good my man. One scoop seems to be the sweet spot for you. I think I like mine at about a scoop and a half. The focus as you stated at that dose is sweet. I tried 2 scoops and I felt a bit over stimmed..lOL

Here's a review at this point:
Maximize mixes well in water straight out of the tap and in ice cold water. Although ice cold water seems to bring out the raspberry flavor more. The tartness of the lemonade is also refreshing
I respond very well to supplements with 1,3 in them. I refer to the focus as laser like. Too much 1,3 does throw me off a bit, having an almost "stimmed-out" feeling. But I-Force put just the right amount per scoop and I really enjoy it.
I see a definite increase in both work capacity and endurance using Maximize. It's funny that the only thing holding me back isn't my muscles, it's my lungs. My mind and muscles say, "Let's go, we're ready for another set!" and my lungs say, "Can we get a minute? We're still on fire..." I usually keep my rest between sets between 1-3 minutes, but on Maximize, I've been able to reduce that significantly.
Now that I'm getting into a bit heavier part of training cycle, I'll try and get videos of my training as well.

I promise this log hasn't been abandoned. I've just been crazy busy at work at my son has been sick, so we've been taking care of him. Couple that with the fact that I'll be going out of town tomorrow would explain the lack of updates. This has been a unscheduled deload for me. I'll be doing cardio, but I'm not sure if I'll have access to weights. I'll for sure be back in the gym next Thursday, as I'm about a month out of my contest and this are going to get ramped up.
I know I promised vids way back and I do plan on getting some for these last 3 weeks of training.

Onto the contest results:
I arrived at Kingwood Harley Davidson at around 8ish with my wife and son and met up with a few of my training partners from The Warehouse and settled down to wait for the rules meeting. At around 9:30-9:45 Travis Ortmayer had the rules meeting and let us know how everything was going to be judged for the day. Once the rules meeting was over, we started warming up for the Axle.
Max Axle Rising Bar
The bar was set to rise in increments and we could jump in at any time and had 60 seconds to make the attempt.
1st Attempt: 235 - Good Lift - I wanted to open light just to get on the board
2nd Attempt: 265 - Good Lift - I went straight for a 10lb PR. It was an easy clean, but on the first press attempt, I tried to press up and out and not up and back and almost clocked myself in the chin. I re-racked it, got my head straight and pressed it. 10lb PR. Travis said the press looked easy.
3rd Attempt: 290 - Good Lift - The next jump up from 265, was either to 290 or 305. After struggling a bit to press 265, I decided that today wasn't the day to try and go for 305. I continental'd the bar easy and popped it up to my shoulders, then pressed it on the first attempt, which shocked the **** out of me. 35lb PR!
Yoke - 830 for 60'
I had done 820 for ~50' with multiple drops in the gym, so I felt ok going into this. I picked it up and started to walk then my back decided to just lock up. I think I made it about 15 feet, maybe. Travis' yoke just felt so much heavier than ours, I'm not sure what the deal was.
Farmers Max Distance - 290 per hand
I had no preconceived notions going into this, as the heaviest I'd gone in training is 250 per hand. It was an easy pick, but my grip gave out at about 20 feet.
Conan's Wheel - 600lbs
I'd never done a Conan's, but I had done Yoke Zerchers, so I felt alright going in. I warmed up with Ashley Wirt (NAS TX State Chair) and Dione Wessels (Owner of NAS) in the basket and felt ok. Instead of weights, they put 4 Hooters Girls in it. By virtue of my showing in farmers I got to go first . I made it just over 1 revolution (~87'). It wasn't heavy, it was just hard to breathe, so I'll definitely be training to slow my breathing in the future, should this event come up again. (My said, and I quote: "You should have seen the shade of purple your face was turning...")
I have a love-hate relationship with the stones. I had loaded our 309 to 48" in training, but couldn't load the Unit's 300" to 48" today. I loaded 245 to 53" and 275 to 45"
I had fun and came away with no injuries. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one and will also be trying to get my weight down to a place that is manageable for a cut to the Lightweights.
I'll try post my final review of Maximize in a little while.

Nice work! Best time to hit PR's is in competition. Sounds like you had fun doing it, other then the back seizing part. I've never seen one of these comps live before but it sounds interesting.
