    Etomic's axplosion [NOS-FX alpha test]

THIS IS AN ALPHA TEST SPONSORED BY ANABOLIC XTREME

From the innovators who bring you the most hardcore and innovative supplements in the industry comes a new product that will once again revolutionize the way you think of the PUMP!!

Anabolic Xtreme proudly introduces its first ever pump product, codename AXplosion. Bringing innovation isn't new at AX, and this formula will prove to be another in a long line of industry-changing products. From designer Shawn Wells, aka Androgenic, one of the greatest minds in the industry comes "AXplosion", an industry first. No more will you get some wimpy short-lived pump product full of stimulants that make you crash mid-way through your workout (yes, it's Stim free!!). Gone are the days of looking great at the gym but back to just "regular" by the time you get home. No more!! You want pumped, we'll give you PUMPED!!

This is an alpha test of "Axplosion," now called "NOS-FX." As of now the ingredients/profile of this product are secret and are unknown to me so do not look for any information in that regard. I have been given practically no information regarding this product, and the little that I have I will not share in fear of breaching the non-disclosure agreement. What I will share with this log is my experiences/feelings of this product during its alpha test. For more specific information, as this product advances, visit the Anabolic Xtreme page at this forum.

This log will pinpoint anything unusual from my normal supplement-free workouts (e.g. pump, energy, mindset, intensity, strength gains, etc.) as well as the weights used. I do not have the means to get pictures up, so I apologize for that inconvenience.

    My stats:
    5'8"
175-180lbs (fluctuates a lot, so will not weigh everyday)
    ~9-11% body fat

My training protocol is rather simple:
    Day 1: Chest
    Day 2: Back
    Day 3: Legs
    Day 4: Shoulders/Abs
Day 5: Arms, forearms, calves again if I feel up to it
Generally I like to do 4-6 exercises, until I feel too tired to increase weight. My sets are usually [12,10,8,5], except legs where I go fewer exercises and [12,12,10,8,5,3]. If I feel like I can tack on a few more reps, after, I do so.
I do not follow this in any particular order, but I usually like to follow chest with back or vice versa. I also stick in a rest day whenever I feel my body needs it or scheduling forces.

I will be taking the recommended dosage, however, I will definitely try upping the dosage once or twice during the log. I will dose only during my training days, unless I receive different instructions.

My diet is not strict whatsoever. I eat a light meal every 1.5-3 hours, again as schedule permits, as I am a full-time student and a heavy dinner. On a day-to-day basis I consume +/- 300g protein, +/- 250g carbs, and 1.5 gallons of water.

I will post all my workouts a day late so that I can comment on how long the pump lasted as well as appetite and sleep that night, all in the same post.

I hope my posts are readable...

    Day 1- 1/27/09

Yesterday was back @ 176; I took 5 caps 30min before I entered the gym doors.

    Deadlifts (one of my difficulties)
    12 @ 135
    10 @ 185
    8 @ 225
    5 @ 275 (needed straps)
3 @ 315 (needed straps, third rep got a bit sloppy)

High Row Machine (two individual arms, so weight is listed per arm)
    12 @ 45
    10 @ 90
    8 @ 135
    5 @ 135

    Seat Cable Rows
    (close grip)
    12 @ 130
    12 @ 130
    (wider grip)
    12 @ 130
    11 @ 130
    (rope)
    10 @ 130
    9 @ 130

    Close-Grip Front Lat Pulldown Machine
    12 @ 190
    12 @ 210
    8 @ 250
    4 @ 270

I started with deads, pump seemed to come much slower than usual; usually comes in after the set of 225. When it finally did come, after the final set, I seemed to have an equally dispersed pump throughout my body - normally I get it in lower back, lats, and delts only. Pump did not increase much throughout the workout nor localize to back only. By the end of the workout my body felt beat, but the pump was as if I just did a full-body workout with med-heavy weight, nothing intense.

Workout seemed to go at a faster than normal pace, definitely did not feel like I needed as much downtime as usual. The weights and reps were all about the same as usual for those exercises.

After I left the gym I had a mediocre pump that lasted for about an hour. I was hungrier than normal but slept normally.

    Day 2- 1/28/09

Did shoulders and a little core, I took 5 caps ~40min before I entered the gym doors.

Behind the Neck Presses (Smith Machine)- bar is 15lbs I believe, not included in weight
    12 @ 90
    10 @ 140
    8 @ 140
    3 @ 180

Barbell Shrug Behind The Back (Smith Machine)
    12 @ 90
    10 @ 140
    5 @ 180

    Arnold Presses
    12 @ 50
    8 @ 60
    6 @ 70

    Side bends
    30 @ 45 (30r, 30l)
    30 @ 45 (30r, 30l)

    Sit Ups at 45-50 decline
    30 @ body+25
    30 @ body+25
    20 @ body

    Around the World
    20 rev @ 45
    20 rev @ 45

    One-Arm Side Laterals
    12 @ 30
    10 @ 35
    8 @ 35

Again I seemed to get a pump slower than usual, but once I did get a pump, it was pretty strong. I would say this was an above average pump about the same as a normal dose of NO Shotgun v3. What I noticed most, however, is that my energy level never seemed to drop. I had the same amount of energy when I left as when I had entered but my body could not physically do any more. Also, I did not need as much time in between sets as usual. I only needed 75% of the time I usually take, about 90sec, but needed to drink more water. As far as I'm aware, this does not have any stimulants nor does it feel like it.

That night I had a "pump" that felt like I had just warmed up my arms and shoulders. This lasted while I was going to sleep about seven hours after my workout.

Did arms and forearms, took 5 caps 35 min before I entered the gym doors.

    Behind the Back Wrist Curls
    15 @ 100
    15 @ 120
    12 @ 100

Pump acquired slower than usual but did end pretty strong. I had a good pump going for about seven hours and then a lot of stiffness afterwards. I was not able to eat before I went to the gym so I ended up going during a several hour fast. My energy drained quickly but I was able to truck on with little impact. In similar situations, all the weights would have to drop at least 10lbs and maybe lose a rep. When I left I was physically exhausted but my muscles seemed to endure. I don't know, kind of hard to explain it exactly.

While I did have a decent pump - lots of veinage in my forearms with veins and their underlying veins bulging - I have yet to experience a great muscle pump. I am hoping that this will come soon.

    Day 7- 2/2/09

Took 8 caps one hour before workout. After I took the caps, I went to the library to get a little reading done. About 15min in I noticed that I got strong wood... who knew physical chemistry was so sexy. Libido was very high but intermittent. I wanted to wait a little bit longer to hit the weights, as recommended by Shawn Wells, the formulator of NOS-FX but it became impossible for me to get my head in the books. Honestly, I was worried the libido would be problematic in the gym.

It was legs day and when I got there I felt like doing compound exercises only.

    Leg Press
    12 @ 290
    12 @ 380
    10 @ 470
    8 @ 560
    4 @ 640
    3 @ 640

    Plate Loaded Seated Calf Raises
    20 @ 90
    15 @ 135
    13 @ 180
    4 +20sec hold @ 180

    Front Squats
    12 @ 115
    10 @ 135
    8 @ 155
    3 @ 155

    Hack Squat Machine
    12 @ 180
    9 @ 270
    5 @ 270

Calve Raises (on Hack Squat Machine, fast)
    15 @ 180
    20 @ 180
    13 @ 230

Rack Pulls - I know this isn't legs, but I had the urge to do them
    12 @ 135
    12 @ 225
    10 @ 275 (wraps)
    4 @ 315 (wraps)

I walked into the gym already fairly pumped. All I did was walk the quarter mile between the library I was in and the gym. It felt like all my clothes had shrunken a size.

I thought this was a fantastic workout and although I always thought this an oxymoron, I had fun. Energy will just a little less than what I walked in with but my muscles would no longer respond with anything besides limping.

Pump was great through the workout, probably the best balanced pump I've had with any other pump product. Prior history includes, but not limited to (I forget a few): NO Xplode, Nitrix, P-Slin, Anabolic Pump, Animal Pumps, Superpump 250, NO Shotgun v.3, WTF Pump'd. I'm sure there were a few more but these were the most memorable. There was enough pump to feel like serious things were happening in the gym but no so much that the workout suffers. When I went to change in the locker room my boxers were more restrictive than "tighty whities" and it was a struggle to take off my shirt.

This was probably the most fun I have ever had in the gym and the endorphin rush I had, by the time I was finished, was insane. This was what I was expecting out of a pump product by AX.

The recommended dose for my bodyweight (177) is 5 caps; 8 caps which is just over 1.5x the recommended serving seems to be the better dosage for me.

    Day 8- 2/3/09

Back day, 5 caps two hours preworkout; the writeup I have suggests taking the dose about 30-45min ahead of time, but this was at the suggestion of the formulator.

    Deadlifts
    12 @ 135
    10 @ 185
    8 @ 225
    3 @ 275

High Rows weight listed is per arm
    12 @ 45
    12 @ 90
    10 @ 115
    10 @ 135

    Cable Rows
    Close Grip
    12 @ 120
    12 @ 120
    Wider Grip
    12 @ 120
    11 @ 120
    Rope
    10 @ 110
    9 @ 110

This was all I could do, Rack Pulls the day before really did me in, more than I had expected. Regardless of a shorter workout I did have a decent pump but it seemed to fade into the workout. Energy and drive wasn't quite here and working out seemed especially laborious. Maybe two hours ahead of time was too far in advance.

This workout felt really good, pump came quick and hard. I think that maybe the active in this product is something that needs to build up to work with fuller effects. I felt a great muscle pump this workout instead of just a blood engorgement like I had in the earlier workouts. Although there were not many exercises involved I felt great at the end. Painful DOMS (in a good way) and still pumped, even now, two days later. This product seems like a milder 3-AD to me, just with less energy. AX claims that this is stim free but I always get a rush of energy shortly after I consume the caps. It's feels like I MUST go to the gym and I am beyond the point of return after I take them.

    Day 11- 2/6/09

Tomorrow looks like a busy day so I will give today's update now, I will make time for the gym tomorrow, without question. My cold seems to leaving me now and the temperature is going up, slightly.

Today was arms, took 8 caps to rekindle my drive, it worked.

    12 @ 125
    10 @ 140
    5 @ 165 (full rack +10lb plate)|
    3 @ 140 | double drop-set
    2 @ 110 |

    Chin Ups
    20 @ bodyweight

    10 @ 35
    10 @ 50
    10 @ 65

    Alternating Curls
    12 @ 45
    9 @ 45
    10 @ 45

    Behind the Back Wrist Curls
    15 @ 100
    15 @ 120

This time, when I took 8 caps, I did not get any libido boost as I had the first time around. I did get insane drive, however.
This was a GREAT workout, was really psyched to be fully back in the gym. DOMS in chest inhibited the close grips quite a bit, but the overhead extensions really made up for it. I don't think I had ever felt so taxed in a single exercise as I had then, but after the chin ups I was ready to hit tris again.
During the workout my thirst had greatly increased... I drank .25gallons of water during the workout, which is much more than usual for me. I was through the gym pretty quick, about 45min, but about 20min in I felt so dense and looked so lean. It looked as if my upper body absorbed all the extra fluid in my body, making my muscles bulge through my t. While I am around 11%bf, I looked as if I were at 4% and wearing Underarmour, not a t-shirt.

I think I would have been better off taking only 6, maybe 7, caps for such small muscle groups and reserving 8 caps for legs, possibly back.

Workout was only decent for my shoulders but really good for my abs; abs feel bloated today because of it. Even though I took more than the recommended dose, it did not really kick in. I think it was because I ate a small meal just under an hour before I took the caps instead of the recommended two full hours. I did not get a great pump, but I was looking pretty thick as I was leaving.

This workout was alright, kind of weak. I was running on three hours of sleep but I made it to class on time. I think I made the right sacrifice. After class, I took 8 caps and then took a 20min nap; I woke up pumped and with wood.
The workout seemed to have been pretty weak, it felt like I was doing fewer reps at lighter weight. My squats are usually this low, however, as I cannot balance the weight correctly, making my knees want to buckle. Regardless, I left with a very strong pump and it took 3x as long to walk the quarter mile to the bus stop because my legs were in so much pain

Great workout, was the first time I did Barbell incline press in a long time. Had a great, full, pump in my chest. I feel like this product has really picked up in the past few workouts, so perhaps it takes a while to experience full effects. This workout was two days ago and my chest still feels full as well as sore.

Great workout, I've really become fond of back workouts ever since I started doing deads again. I really enjoy taking 8 caps (1.5x current serving strength) and I don't think I've had a bad experience yet with it. My muscles pumped up quick (lower back, slightly, but without discomfort) and I could really feel a connection between the motion and the weight; I could feel the fibers shake getting the weight up.Nothing to note towards libido like I had before.
I am curious how much I can take before bad things happen (e.g. too pumped to workout)...

Another great workout despite waiting hour and a half to workout. Pumps came readily and came strong. I got bigger t-shirts, recently, that fit fairly loose but the sleeves still rode up. I had a great arm pump that felt like my biceps and triceps wanted to pop off the bone. Was also able to focus incredibly well, but no awesome veinage like last arm workout.

Nearing the end, I only have enough for two more workouts - 14caps remain - both will be run at 7. Seems that I have lost a few caps (3)... I recall counting 90, hopefully I didn't lose them when putting them back in the bottle, or else I would be a total dumb@ss.

Good workout, great pumps. I really noticed the soreness at the end of the workout, felt great. Definition had been coming progressively more pronounced (striations and veins) water intake had been increasing gradually throughout use. I felt very thick after this workout.

Enough caps remaining for one more workout.

GREAT last workout, if anything I think this workout was stronger and felt better than any of my previous workouts. I feel that this product had continually more pronounced effects with use and I could go longer. However, the soreness has increased a good deal, too.
I had an awesome leg pump going that made me walk around the gym like I was constipated and made my gym shorts uncomfortably tight. My muscles didn't seem to fatigue during the sets normally, I would just get to a certain point where I could not push anymore. Energy overall didn't seem to waiver much in the gym, which usually drops quickly during leg day, until a few hours later when I crashed and had to take a long nap.

These were the last of my caps, I will write up a long final review in a few days, so I can compare my workouts without caps to the workouts I've had the past few weeks.

    Summation + Final Review

Past pre-workout pump supps include: NO Xplode, Nitrix, P-Slin, Anabolic Pump, Animal Pumps, Superpump 250, NO Shotgun v.3, WTF Pump'd; there are most likely more, but I forget.

In the beginning of this trial, I was kind of disappointed... the first week of use led to nothing really worthwhile and from my experience with other pre-workout supps, noticeable effects came in within the first workout or two. However, about one week in, workouts really became intense and as time progressed the workouts became better and better. By the end of the trial I was experiencing some very strong DOMS that reminded me exactly what I had worked that week.

The pumps I experienced were insane, absolutely insane. Once the effects came coming, every workout, except one or two, gave me a better feeling of control in motion and swelled my muscles so much that I could feel them move in my skin. What I noticed most was how vascular I got during the workouts. I didn't look as big as I do from most other pump products, but I did look a more muscular and far leaner. I also noticed my need to drink twice as much water in the gym and maybe a quart between consuming the product and making it to the gym.

I did not gain any weight in this run, final weight was within my avg range (final weight 177), but I feel like I was able to do more reps than usual. I never gain weight from pump products, alone, so I was not really disappointed. Energy levels did not seem to drop at all in the gym, not even during leg workouts where I normally begin to tire after the first exercise. My mood and drive to hit the weights also seemed to pick up after consuming the product.

This product seemed a lot like 3-AD to me: better mood, had energy boost (even though this is stim-free), increased drive at the gym, improved definition. I think its more fair to compare NOS-FX to 3-AD in terms of pre-workout than to any of the other pre-workouts I've taken before. I think, however, that this product would be better coupled with a creatine. Until now, I have never had a great experience with a pump product stand-alone but with a creatine mixed in I would get better results than with creatine stand-alone. Perhaps this logic can apply with this product.

It would also be worth noting that I did not have #2 issues like I have had with almost every pre-workout supplement I've tried. By the end of the second week of use with other products I would take the product and have to run to the throne within 20min, this product I was able to take in class without concern.

My complaint about this [ALPHA TEST formulation] is that it seemed underdosed. With the current recommended dose (and ingredient profile) my workouts were better than normal, but 1.5x the recommended dose led to some of the best workouts I've had in recent memory. I have been working out without this product for a week now and in comparison my workouts seem lacking. I miss the pump. It has actually been demoralizing comparing good workouts now to a shotty workout two weeks ago.

Overall I rate NOS-FX an A-, the workouts were great, but it was an annoyance needing to get a drink of water after every set and as mentioned before, I feel like this product should be a little stronger.

I want to thank Anabolic Xtreme again for choosing me to take part of this Alpha Test. It was a great honor for me to log this as my first and it was a good experience.
