Traveling with gear, uk/france/germany

I know we're lucky enough to have decent laws about possesing gear as a uk resident. Is it therefore legal to take this abroad on the ferry to france and europe as i work in Germany. Will customs lock me up for having pins and enough juice for 1 course?
