Hematoma Help

I had my girlfriend inject 2.4cc's test and EQ into my right V glute last Thursday teh 8th of November. On that Saturday, I noticed a golf ball sized painful lump where the injection took place. I went to the ER on Sunday worrying that it was an abscess. It was diagnosed as a minor hematoma. the doc said ice it, rest it, and take 800mg ibuprofen per day and by Monday it should be better. It's Tuesday, and its the same. Still very tender. It cannot be seen, but can be felt. It's like a somewhat flattened out golf ball and its very hard to the touch. (seems deep said the doctor who didnt want to drain it) he said it was minor enough that it would go away on its own.

anyone have similar problems. If its not better in a few days Im going to go back and hopefully they can do something about it.

(the injection was sterile as always, it was not the first shot in that muscle, and the gear is clean.) these are not variables here- just to save time when people comment.
 
Is there any discoloration at or around the sight of injection? You may have bruised the inner-layer of the muscle itself and in doing so, it may be that way for 4-6 weeks. Just a suggestion here, but you may try HOT to COLD treatment 4-5 times a day for a week and try not to rub the area affected.

yea I may try the HOT COLD thing. There is no discoloration, and it cannot be seen by the naked eye. I find it hard to believe I did any severe damage to the inner layer of the muscle. I use a small needle, 1 inch 25g.... I may have twitched a little during the injection which would have caused the needle to move a bit. maybe this is just inflammation from that (bruising)...?
 
Maybe because you used a 1" it didn't go in deep enough. Usually, 1.5" are used for glute shots.
 
Small needle for a glute shot? You may want to go up a gauge.

So, it's pretty tender? Any changes in skin colour around the area? Does it feel warm? What is your temperature? How do you feel otherwise?

Sounds like a hematoma based on your description above. It may take some time to resolve as vacularization in the sub-cue layer is minimal. I would stick with ice and NSAIDs. For an acute trauma such as this, I would not recommend heat. It may increase swelling.
 
i have had no fever, nor do i really feel lousy otherwise. My temperature is fine, I have been sweating a lot though. I think this is due to the fact that my body is fighting inflammation and i have upped my test and EQ dose from 750-500mg respectively to 1g-750mg. I have started injecting in other muscle groups besides glutes. I did 3cc in right quad yesterday. Its tender and sore as hell right now but no lumps and injection didnt sting at all like it does in the glute. I agree that the 1inch may not be long enough, but there is hardly any fat on my v-glute and the doctor noted that the hematoma was "deep" in his terms.

I just don't know how much longer to wait for it to resolve. It seems as though its not getting better or worse.

as far as exercises, will things like squats and leg work be bad for this?

what about squatting with a sore quad from injection. I will most likely wait for it to settle a few days and see where this how this glute thing does in a few days and save legs until then, but I was just wondering. I know that I work out shoulders after delt injects even though they are sore. I though it was good to help disperse the oil etc.
 
I'm starting to think something may be up. I will give it more time, but I've stated that I haven't had a fever. Maybe I have and just havent realized it. I mean this morning I woke up, my bed was DRENCHED in sweat.....I though nothing of it becuase I tend to sweat at night, but Not to that degree.

I did a 3cc shot into right quad instead of glutes and its sore as hell. like I just got stabbed!, no lump or redness or anything, just so sore its hard to walk. (first time injecting into that muscle) this normal?
