    Fasted AM cardio on cycle

I'm going to implement fasted cardio as a cornerstone of my cutting cycle.

I'm in the "anabolic zone" so to speak, so would it be nessasary to supplement with leuciene before said cardio, or is test anabolic enough to prevent catabolism on fasted cardio?

Also, how does this sound for cardio: Low intensity, walking on a treadmill at a steep incline for 50 minutes, followed by 10-15 bcaa's. Leucine would be used beforehand if nessasry.

    Thoughts?

I say to drink the BCAAs while doing your cardio and add in the leucine, too.

Yeah but Isoleuceine and L-valine are glucogenic... while leucine is ketogenic. It seems to me like I wouldn't be burning much fat if my body was using L-val and Isoleu for energy instead of fat reserves, and I guess Leuceine could prevent muscle catabolism.

They will all most likely be converted to glucose by gluconeogenesis, especially after 50 minutes of fasted cardio. I would recommend it for before/during just so they are already in your system to get the processes underway.

Ok, now the question is how many grams... and is my cardio too much or not enough?

Well, what do you define as low intensity?

I guess it's dependant upon heart rate. Maybe 120-125 BPM?

    Inclined treadmill at 4.5 MPH.

So roughly 60% of MHR. I would get really bored personally, but if you can do it, then great. I would take 20g of BCAAs and mix it 20 oz of some flavored beverage, drink half, refill, and drink the rest during cardio.

Yeah, well, dieting isn't exactly fun. Cardio is boring...alot of things suck... such is life. </emo>

Anyways, I'm just looking for the most effcient least catabolic way to go about cardio. I don't want BCAA's to marginalize my fat burning while doing fasted cardio. There has been some arguments on the forums advocating leucine by itself over the BCAA formula.

Well look at it this way, it will only be 80 calories intake and way more expended.

Ah, how did you come up with 80 calories? 20 grams of BCAA's is only 80 calories? Is that because your taking into account the conversion of 20 grams into 20 grams of carbs in the form of glucose?

BCAAs are a form of protein. 1g of protein=4 kcals.

Yeah, ok well technically speaking ketogenic leuceine will stay protein and if the other to go through gluconeogenesis, they will be 4 cal's a peice in the form of carbs, so either way, 80 cals. Touche'
