delt inject not deep enough: lump

hi i injected left delt (1ml 250mg Test Enth Norma with 1" 23G) on tuesday. first attempt i hit a vein when asp. so rushed a second attempt and did not go deep enough - first time injecting delts. heres the problem;

the site is sore there is a lump but ive discovered that when i put pressure on it / massage it hurts but then the pain moves elsewahere suggesting its a lump of oil beneath skin. i can literally mould it and feel the oil. there is no redness on the area.

what should i do? how long shoulodl i wait before doctor? next workout is monday

delts seem to be a sensitive spot for my friend also. the oil seems to like to sit in the muscle and not dispearse well.. i would apply heat and massage the area regularly... keep an eye on ur temperature

yea im putting pressure on it so the oil travels downward to the muscle belly itself - medial delt. i thinki shot it too high.

thing is i just had a wild day with cialis and this girl and feel bit dozy/tired but this tends to happen to me after sex. im pretty sure its unrelated. missed few meals today too as a result

should i be concerned about the heat/warmth coming from the area where the oil is sitting though?

Ya keep an eye on your temperature and wait to see if it dissipates on it's own. I think you'll be fine though.

hot, cold compress.... as much as you can.

If you injected too shallow, it would be swollen and irritated... much worse than you describe.

You could have a sterile abcess, which I have had in that exact area.... or it could be a bacterial abcess.. which is worse.... but it doesn't really sound like it.


In any event, watch it closely. Fever is a sign for you to go to the doctor as soon as possible... it is warm to the touch? No streaking yet? These signs come on a couple days after the injection if it is any type of abcess.

Not to freak you out, but it is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry.

If you live in the UK, you should be able to go to a Doctor without worry regardless.

yea this is staying warm. even though i can move it around and isnt too painful. whats a sterile abscess?

im thinking of going to a hospital A&E tommorow morning. you usually have to wait hours but hope that it isnt going to require an overnight stay.

what exactly should i tell the hospital? that i think this is an absecc? should i mention injecting AAS?

Sterile abscesses are sometimes a milder form of the same process caused not by germs but by non-living irritants such as drugs. If an injected drug like penicillin is not absorbed, it stays where it was injected and may cause enough irritation to generate a sterile abscess--sterile because there is no infection involved. Sterile abscesses are quite likely to turn into hard, solid lumps as they scar, rather than remaining pockets of pus.

it sounds to me like you just injected too shallow and the oil is stuck between the muscle fibers and dermal layer. the same thing has happend to me and i experienced the same thing you are describing. after 4 days it turned yellow as the oil spread around and then finally disappeared by day 7, roughly. its really not something to worry about IMO. just watch for abscess symptoms and if you experience any either pop down some antibiotics you have on hand or go to a doctor.

preferrably i would order some penicillin G procaine from a vet supply shop and use 2 mls of that a day until the abscess disapearred, if it comes to that.


if its a sterile abscess.....put a 22 gauger in there and draw it out...a doctor could do that for you but only after he gave you a 20 minute long speech about the dangers of steroids and possibly informed your insurance company. much easier to just draw it yourself, if it is indeed a sterile abscess.

i cant tell for sure whether its red as in red red as i dont have fair skin. its redder then right delt but that may be due to hear. there is undissipated oil under skin though as the imprint of finger is left when i press hard against it

right didnt train today - the lump area has decreased in size dramtically but im still holding my breathe. i think working out actually inihibits the oil being dissipated and forces it out of the muscle layer into the fat layer. how long shoulod i wait for comeplete dissipation. im thinking 5 days

No, I would think the increased bloodflow in the area during training would actually do the opposite, and help usher it along into the bloodstream.

if it is in fact oil between the muscle and dermal layer would the oil he injected be working? i was always told a stupid question is one not asked

I am pretty sure that oil injected subq still manages to be partially relased into the bloodstream, just not as much as if it were properly injected IM.

actually i am sure of it, i read it in an article about ventro glute injections as opposed to other injections. dermal and subq are close enough together that i dont think it would make much of a difference.
