If steroid molecules are lipid soluble, do they need to fit a receptor?

My anatomy book says steroid compunds are lipid soluble so they can pass right through a cell wall without having to fit a receptor. This doesent make sense with what I have read about the steroid molcules fitting receptors. Are there other receptors inside the cell wall that the steroid molecule still must fit?

Hormones in general have this ability, but not everyone has the same amount of androgen receptors and/or sensitivity.
