lowering ph levels with organic acid?

ok I know this isnt the spot for the thread, but seems most people are lurking in this off topic section for now.

 

anyway....i know red devil lye will raise the ph...to lower it i was told use an organic acid.

 

can i use like ascorbic or citric acid?   LIke if i crushed up a vitamin c wafer i had and put some in my gel...would that work?....Im not sure if that sounds stupid, but its my first batch, so i dunno.
